This Fall, Six Flags Puts the Family, Fun & Fright in Halloween!

Six Flags Introduces 'Wheel of Fright' & 'Coffin of Fear' to Annual Fright Fest Festivities

September 13, 2007: 09:00 AM EST

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With Halloween just around the corner, Six Flags Inc. announced today their 2007 Fright Fest plans for the season -- and that means that Fright Fest, Six Flags' popular annual Halloween celebration, is back and better than ever! This year's theme, "Thrills by Day, Chills by Night," offers fantastic, family-friendly Halloween attractions by day and chilling, scary fun by night.

Thrills by Day:

Kids of all ages will have the chance to take part in fantastic Six Flags Halloween-themed activities created especially for them, including costume contests, scare-free Trick-or-Treat trails, coloring book stations, face painting, and pumpkin painting with Bugs Bunny. Many parks are also creating a "Not so Scary Kiddy Hayride" and the "Monster Mash Bash," where kids can sing along to spooky renditions of their favorite pop songs. Young guests will also want to make time to enjoy their favorite rides throughout the park. From Thomas Town at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Northern California and Six Flags New England to Wiggles World at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, Six Flags Great America in Chicago and Six Flags New England, which will include Halloween-themed shows and songs, there is something at Fright Fest for guests of all ages to enjoy!

Chills by Night:

Last year, guests were given the ultimate challenge - eat a live Madagascar hissing cockroach to gain front-of-the-line access to the parks' thrilling coasters and attractions. And for 2007, Six Flags has added new levels of chill to this year's Fright Fest celebration, as guests will have the opportunity to go beyond the roach and sample other insects and gruesome treats on Six Flags' Wheel of Fright. Each park's Wheel of Fright will invite daring guests to spin the wheel for the chance to win front of the line access when the wheel lands on one of six Fright Fest-worthy items. Each is known as a delicacy in parts of the world, and each one of these and other scream- inducing Wheel of Fright items will grant guests front of the line access if eaten! This year, Wheel of Fright items include cockroaches, wax worms, crickets, nightcrawlers, Rocky Mountain oysters and hot hot hot Habenero peppers!

Six Flags' Wheel of Fright starts the Halloween season off with a GULP ... and if that's not enough to tickle your frightful fancy, this year Six Flags is also introducing the creepy Coffin of Fear. For this element of Fright Fest, the squeamish need not apply. Each participating guest will lie in a coffin which is then filled with meal worms. Guests must remain in the mealwormy coffin for at least one minute in order to receive a prize.

"Six Flags is always home to thrilling entertainment and Fright Fest is no exception," said Dan Weinberg, Six Flags Vice President of Entertainment. "This year we are building on our popular cockroach eating challenge with our Wheel of Fright and Coffin of Fear. At the same time, we will continue our favorite Halloween activities for kids, such as Trick-O-Treat trails and pumpkin painting with Bugs Bunny! We are excited to bring these enjoyably entertaining and chillingly fun activities to our parks for guests to enjoy."

Wheel of Fright and Coffin of Fear are open to all guests. If under 18, minors must have parents sign a waiver to participate. The Halloween chill is in the air and Six Flags continues its tradition of Halloween fun at its best!

And I seriously, seriously question whether some courts would uphold such a waiver...it certainly seems to be against public policy...and I also suspect that in at least some jurisdictions (California comes immediately to mind), a parent signing such a waiver could later find themselves subject to a charge of child abuse..even years later when said child attains the age of majority...18...

I don't think that it would bode well in evaluating a child in primarily in the dependency area. It shows very poor judgment upon a parents part to all such things.
