DropZone99
I was wandering where the Eagle's used to be before it moved to Coney Mall. Does anyone have a picture? =]
CoastersRZ
Well, before they were located where there last spot was in Coney Mall (at the present site of the three point challenge), they were located on the current site of the Dodgems. When the Dodgems were installed in 1986 (along with the Zephyr and now defunct Skylab), the Eagles were moved to the new location. Prior to the Eagles being at Kings Island, they were, of course located at Coney Island on the mall. I don`t know of any pictures from Coney that are online, but I know that there are pictures in Charles Jacques` Coney Island book that shows the Eagles. BTW, that book is full of lots of great pictures from Coney Island.

Here are some pictures from this site; linked below http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=
PKIVortex
The Flying Eagles should have never left KI. That was a classic ride, and the fact it was moved from Coney Island should have been the reason it stayed at KI. Even if they just moved it to another area of the park. Carowinds we still want our Eagles back.
The Interpreter
...and from somewhere near the North Carolina/South Carolina border, I heard a buzzer buzz twice, then a voice cry: Go Ghost!
raptor
What a brilliant idea Paramounts! take a classic coney island ride and get rid of it to put another game.
The Interpreter
a. They didn't get rid of it, it went to Carowinds. b. Paramount didn't put in a game, Cedar Fair did. And a very profitable and popular game it is. That game may well help pay off the debt that saves the parks from being owned by a group of banks or worse. I smile each time I see teens (and more than a few middle aged aging athletes) happily forking over their money to Cedar Fair in hopes of winning some virtually worthless gee-gaw at relatively high expense. Reclaimer
Those 3-point challenges really do suck in the money.
Dvo
All games are very profitable for amusement parks. Granted some get played more than others, but when you think about the profit margin for those games, it's unreal. My brother told me that KI buys the basketballs that people win at the free-throw shooting games for $0.80 each. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but it wouldn't doubt me. Nonetheless people pay at least $2.00, often $5.00 to win one (and then proceed to dribble it nonstop in the malls and drive everyone else insane). Anyway, supposing that is true, that's a 525% profit for each person who pays $5.00 and wins one ball.
The Interpreter
Not to mention the nearly 100 percent profit on those who play and win...nothing. I still don't see why amusement park games are not gambling...and I wouldn't care but for Cedar Fair's STRONG lobbying against all forms of gambling in Ohio except the Ohio Lottery (which is one of their sponsors) and their own games. As for the dribbling, I've been hit TWICE over the years by balls that got out of control of their owner. At Hersheypark, the reaction was "So what!" I was less than amused, to put it mildly. raptor
even worse take out the flying eagle and put nothing there till Cedar Fair put the 3 point game there, but I believe there is plenty of room at Kings Island to put the 3 point anywhere and leave the flying scooters, or relocate the scooters to another spot in the park, yet another old fashioned flat ride to go, It's amazing the monster and shake rattle and roll survived. I hope we get a couple flat rides or adult non wild rides from gl.
