cstrwomann
That's a great site I just wish I could get logged into the thing they never sent me my password. I did vote to save the dipper. I hope it can be saved.
neo8820
A new site was just launched http://savethedipper.com/ thought id share it with everyone Does anyone know if ACE is doing something to try and save the dipper? I noticed on rcdb that it is an ace classic. If a group like ACE went to Cedar Fair there might be a chance. I think it would be kind of neat to have a water park with a great classic coaster. For some reason it reminds me of a board walk on the east coast I hate to see such a great example of early American coaster history meet the wrecking ball. jzarley
Hopefully, there's a way CF can follow the lead of the Columbus Zoo and somehow itegrate their classic woodie into their waterpark-only format. (Although, its placement in the park will make that somewhat more difficult...) I'm impressed that the Columbus Zoo has gone to the extent they have to save the Sea Dragon. (It looked pretty weird to see 30+ acres of completely cleared land with a wooden coaster right in the middle of it! ) Not only did the Zoo save the coaster, but I've heard it will the centerpiece of the new "dry ride" park. I'm sure it will probably get a new name to fit into the new theme of the area, but that's of little consequence. Regardless of the name, at least the John Allen classic will survive... Beast1979
I noticed that the Big Dipper is Ohio's Oldest Coaster. If it is moved to another park it will not be Ohio's oldest coaster and it won't hold that record. So, to keep that record, it will have to be moved to one of the 2 parks in Ohio that can afford it. And I REALLY don't think Cedar Point is interested in a 65', 35 mph woodie. So... Beast1979
Cory Butcher
Well JZarley, The Columbus Zoo is all about preservation. I think most of us can agree that like Disney, when they do something, it's typically done right!
