Cory Butcher
It's a sad day at a theme park when it's tallest coaster is a Vekoma Boomerang! Beast1979 I agree with the sentiment but disagree with the thought! Many coasters just reach the 110 mark, especially wood Coasters and many suspended/inverted steelies. I'm not to sure that is as sad a day as you state. Remember, even though Beast's drop is 140...its lift is only 110! Along with Gwazi my favorite Woody, and a heck of a lot taller than Blue Streak my second favorite at 78.
The Interpreter
The first drop is 135'. The 141' foot drop is from the second lift hill, at all of 18 degrees!
DropZone99
Maverick, one of greatest roller coasters ever [in my opinion] is only 110. =]
Tomkatt7
Maverick, one of greatest roller coasters ever [in my opinion] is only 110. =] It's all about design, a small drop with the right turns and banking can give you a better sense of speed than just a huge drop. My favorite part of The Beast (besides the double helix) is the long straight stretch tht runs along the service road. No huge drop there, but you just feel like you are FLYING!!! The Interpreter
I agree with you. Maverick is my favorite roller coaster...and it certainly isn't nearly the tallest thing at Cedar Point...(but only in the front seat...odd coaster it is in how different the ride is in various seats!) Raptor66
I've ridden Maverick once in the back seat and once in the front. I actually prefer the back. The first drop is more intense, IMO.

I always try to get in the back, seems more fun getting "yanked" over the hills

The first drop is more intense, IMO. yes...I rode in both front and back, and appreciated the front's handling of the elements, however the back was quite intense with the air time especially just after the end of the "lift". I still prefered the front though, kept most of the intensity of the back but deffinately handled the twisted horseshoe better!
