ClevelandRocks10
Geauga Lake.com All I can say is WOW, what a rip off!
Reclaimer
Rip off? You may have missed the news. Geauga Lake, as an amusement park, was closed. It's just a water park in northern Ohio. They can't very well be open much earlier.
ClevelandRocks10
I'm talking about the $24 dollar price tag to get in not the calendar, I'm well aware the ride side is gone.
Gordon Bombay
Why is 25 bucks so bad? How much was it to visit the park originally whe both park were there?
ClevelandRocks10
Around $26-$28, I don't recall exactly. WWK is a very small water park only offering 2 slide complexes, a lazy river, and a wave pool. IMO $24 dollars is a big rip off.
Reclaimer
..and with the ride side gone and out of the way, the water park can only grow now. CF will be able to concentrate on additions and improvements to the water park instead of trying to figure out ways to draw attendance to a failing dry park. ClevelandRocks10
^I hope. But a $24 dollar price tag is pretty steep and not to mention the $5 dollars to park. I have a feeling the park will struggle next year.
Reclaimer
It might initially have some problems, or it might not. But give it a chance. And while you may or may not think the price tag is hefty, they need to bring in money somehow if they plan on reinvesting it in the park. Gordon Bombay
As far as expanding the waterpark, didnt CF cancel a 2nd phase of the waterpark or something and not build everything that was in it's initial press release? I personallly dont think Cedar Fair has any interest in keeping the water park open either.
ClevelandRocks10
Yup Cedar Fair did cancel phase 2 which was suppose to happen in 2006 and instead they only built a wave pool. IMO they have no intention in keeping the park open and chances are it won't be along long.
Neon
The season pass might be a ripoff, but only by a couple of bucks.
Touchdown
$24 is not a rip off for a water park looking around the country: Schilterbahn in New Braunfels is $32.65 Noah's Ark in the Wisconsin Dells is $24 (but thats under priced, due to competition from Mt. Olympus a few years ago the price was closer to $30) Soak City is $29 The Beach in Cincinatti is $26.50 Looks pretty in line with the area to me, the only thing out of whack is the $5 parking fee as every stand alone park (Disney World doesnt count as a stand alone) never charges for parking. CoastersNSich
Yeah, I think the admission price could be lower, like less than $20, maybe even $15. Parking price seems reasonable though. I know Cedar Fair owns three Soak City parks in Southern California, two that are by themselves. I'm guessing that those parks' pricing may be similar, though? KIBeast
That price is very reasonable. They gate was already too low when they did have a rides side.
ClevelandRocks10
This is odd, they removed all the pricing information and when the park will open
XGatorHead 8904
The Beach has their 2008 admission price, it's $27.99, and they charge for parking too. https://tickets.thebeachwaterpark.com/mainstore.asp And that is odd, I saw the WWK pricing this morning on their site. Someone must have jumped the gun posting it.

The Interpreter
Interesting that THAT press release does NOT have a slug line listing who owns the park and what else they own. Aren't they proud of that? And the park is listed as being 17 acres. My. Definitely a MUCH smaller footprint.
