Six Flags Charts Course, But Skies Aren't Clear Yet

The company may be having some murky waters right now, but Shapiro certainly comes off to me as an impressive, straighforward thinker. I admire that in the limited times I have read or heard about him. He seems to not be hesitant when talking of downfalls, and yet progressive and positive when speaking of his current plans.

They're setting themselves up for failure.Lord knows after the lousy addition to the waterpark at SFA in 2008 I'm DONE with six flags & won't be returning,at least KD is building something that I actually WANT to ride as opposed to SFA,which I see as suffering the same fate as GL did within a year or two.

And how do you know that the water park expansion will be lousy when its not even done yet, nor have you been in it yet. Personally even though KD is getting Dominator, which was a mediocre ride at best when I rode it at GL, I'd rather skip both SFA and KD if I'm in that area and just go to BGE.

While I do think that the Six Flags chain may shrink again I don't see SF going anywhere anytime soon. I too like the way Shapiro talks and I think the 3 year plan makes sense. Though I am assuming the 3 year plan didn't necessarily go in the order he listed I'll give an example.

Six Flags Over Georgia

2006- Goliath (thrill seaker segment)

2007- general clean up (which i'll have to agree the park looked much better this year than in past)

2008- Thomas Town (obviously the family segment)

so I would think 2009 would be the next thrill ride for SFOG if the 3 year plan sticks

In Comparisson to Kinzel, when you listen to the quarterly conferences Shapiro always sounds excited, confident and enthused, listening to Kinzel is like listening to your grandpa tell that story for the third time today of how back when he was a kid everything was much harder yet a lot more boring.

. . . and I'd just visit Dorney Park and then Great Adventure in New Jersey. . . (I do like me some Steel Force from time to time! Laser would be nice, too....)

I'm actually glad you said that.

Don't you think that Kinzel comes off as someone that would have trouble running a Slurpy Mart let alone a major amusement park chain?

He really does not exude confidence?

I'm wondering if he's going to have to go by the wayside for CF to pull through the difficult period?
