The Interpreter
Less than 20 miles from Valleyfair: http://www.animationmagazine.net/article/7867 http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articl...829012008-1.htm http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/stor...tml?jst=b_ln_hl Note the last paragraph of the last linked article: The Mall of America reached a branding agreement with Nickelodeon last February. Nickelodeon -- and all related titles, characters and logos -- are trademarks of New York-based Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA). I doubt you see Nick at Valleyfair any time soon. Cory Butcher
Well, It does not say exclusive to the area or any other such wordage...
The Interpreter
No, it doesn't. But Mall of America's theme park used to be run by Cedar Fair under license (as Camp Snoopy, no less). Then the Mall and Cedar Fair couldn't come to an agreement for a renewal. I think it is a VERY safe assumption that the Mall of America made VERY sure its license with Viacom is geographically exclusive such that the same characters will not also appear at Valleyfair. Even if it isn't, why on earth would Valleyfair want to say, "We have Nick, too...please come see US?"
Cory Butcher
If Nick is such a big draw as many on here seem to think, and Valleyfair! could provide a larger area, with greater amenities; as well as a much more complete family oriented atmosphere, and a much larger theme park no less I could see them getting a Nick license. If a Nick license could bring in additional guests worthy of its price, much more than any other license regardless of its closeness to another such licensing agreement, then wouldn't it be a good business move? (I realize this is unrealistic to think the numbers would work out in this way, but if they did, I could see them saying that).
The Interpreter
Mall of America draws many, many, many more people than any of the former Paramount Parks. Not to mention it is open 12 months a year. I am sure Viacom got the best deal it could possibly get. Sumner Redstone is in business for the money, to put it mildly. Yep...in fact, if MOA's promotional information is to be believed, it draws more guests annually than all the Cedar Fair parks (legacy and former Paramount) put together! Raptor66
OMG I'm so excited! I'll be going to both MOA and Vallyfair this summer when I visit my sister who just moved to Minneapolis!
