A little different spin

The Beast Rider

Ok, so... here is what I'm hoping for. For the blue ice cream to NOT taste like crap, maybe it was just me but it didn't taste right. You have no idea how much I LOVE that stuff. If it weren't for that, no matter how great their rides were, I don't honestly know if I'd go. After all, I'm trying to expand my coaster experiences to other parks, perhaps soon in other countries as well. (Japan and Canada... but that may be a while on the Japan part)

I hope that "Halloween Haunt" which is actually the "diet Coke of evil" (sorry for borrowing this media director type person) and made fearfest into some kiddie show. I guess because too many people were brining their kids?? I dunno. Their wasn't the enthusiatic attitude from preformers like when I went to fearfest and the gore, well, wasn't gory enough. (though even I prefer a limit to the gore) I went through quite a few of the haunted houses too. Maybe I just went to the wrong ones. (though I went to most of them) I will ask for ultra gory this year. Sometimes I like getting scared. (isn't that the point of a haunted house??) No offense to anyone who worked there, I had a great time and some of the people did a good job. The magic, it just, wasn't there. I got the bejesus scared outta me at fearfest. I was really scared. I especially liked the haunted house with the animatronic body (in the big barn by Flight of Fear) that popped out and the optional crawl space in the haunted house by The Racers. Hopefully they can improve some stuff this year. I'm and being patient with them keeping in mind too that they just recently bought all these parks and goodness that is a TALL order for any one company, regardless of how many millions you have.

I think we could look foward to a new coaster by 2009, but I will have to see for myself. I agree with anyone who said anything to the extent of: LOOK FOR LARGE FENCES WITH BIG SIGNS ON THEM WHEN YOU GO THERE. This is what they have always done as Paramount and it's what they had been doing at CP from my understanding. (Of course Cedar Point had a bigger challenge being in the middle of Lake Erie (where you can see lots from a boat ^_^ ) and some of their rides are friggin' huge. I don't see how they hid some of them. = P

Then there is this rumor about no backward racer. I really hope that isn't true either, that's another of my favorite things to do there. That would be like the tearing down The Beast... probably not too smart. I know a TON of people who love to ride it backward and I'm sure if enough get together we could convince them otherwise. (Especially regulars and pass holders, after all I'm quite sure without us there is great finacial loss... I believe they want us all to be happy, it's just alot of different suggestions to listen to, so I imagen they have to go with what will OVERALL make the best change) HOWEVER, we have to be patient no doubt as many of you have said. If we give feedback someone will hear about it sooner or later. Even if they don't take our advice we can at least know we did something and let them know we want our money's worth. Believe me though with the addition of Firehawk, I'll def. be there this year.

Ah, and the service I got while I was there, that is in the food booths, maybe work on that a little too. (during "Halloween Haunt" it wasn't so well, the other time I visited, it was really good)

Sorry if that's alot. I don't mean to seem mean or condensending. I have been to MANY amusement parks in the US from east coast to west coast. (my list is getting bigger slowly but surely) Some of them I didn't ride any roller coasters at so if you look on my profile, please by all means ask me about other parks or types of rides.

Hope to see a new coaster in 09' *let us hope!*

It's been "next year" for 49 days now.

I think you mean it's not next season for another 62 days.

<G>

For Me, the "Year" 2008 starts on Aprill 20th and ends on November 2nd.

So what do you call the time in between that? Just be like the old people and go to Florida in the winter, the theme parks are open year round. I've lived in Florida for 5 years now, but KI is still my home park and I'm moving back to Indiana in 19 days! Just in time to buy a season pass! Woot

I call it torture. <_<

But really, Im getting sick of snow. The only white thing I want to see now is The Racer.

I couldn't agree more! Only one month and 11.5 days to go! We can start to see light at the end of the tunnel...The Beast's tunnel, that is!

We need something with airtime, The Racer is starting to loose it's omph.

Plus I don't want trims, I hate trims.

If they'd show it a little TLC and get ride of the trim brake on Racer, it wouldn't lack umph at all. Other than that, I agree with 2,500,000,000%

No, then it would just be a maintenance nightmare and be rough as hell. The trim brake is there to prevent having to constantly give the ride TLC, same reasons they exist on Beast.

Yes, we wouldn't want maintenance to have to maintain something. Lets just put a trim brake on it, even though it kills the ride. A ridiculous attitude to have. It might be a little rough, what do you expect when you get on? It is a wooden coaster, not a Cadillac.

Sigh. Wooden coasters need not be rough. Many of the best ones are in no way rough. Tremors at Silverwood comes immediately to mind, as does The Comet at The Great Escape, Thunderbolt at Kennywood, Raven at Holiday World and on and on.....

I won't even bring up El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure or even Rolling Thunder there...neither of which has any operating trims.

Violent? Yes. Rough? No way.

Oh, I see. There is violent, and then rough. Now it all makes sense.

Since when is Thunderbolt not rough? It was rough when I rode it, not that I'm complaining about that mind you.

And the point was not whether or not it would increase the roughness, the point was KI seems to have this attitude that just trimming the rides to death is an acceptable substitute for good maintenance. You also said yourself there are many non-rough wooden coaster that do...oh my gosh...actually operate smoothly....am I gonna say it....WITHOUT TRIMS.

^By what is agreeabley a much better ride.

Pish Posh. Hercules had one of the best first drops of any wooden coaster I've ever ridden. The ride itself, when it opened, was thrilling and had the same speedy sensation that The Beast can have. It was only after it was poorly maintained and braked severely that its reputation suffered.

Hydra, meanwhile, is the second most boring B & M coaster I have ever ridden. Talon it is not. Talon is a great deal of fun. Given a choice of riding Hydra or eating a slice of Dorney Park pizza (mmm!), I'll choose the pizza, thank you very much.

So, no, I will NOT agree that Hydra is much better than Hercules. I don't even think it is as good.

^O.K., Interp. You have you're opnion, I have mine.

Everyone I've asked liked Hydra more than Hercules.

But ohh well. Plus, I say that some trims are for good, some for bad.

I would rather had a killed ride thats easy to maintain than a still living ride that's a maintinence nightmare.

Some of us are old school and like violent wooden coasters....others, mostly younger than us, prefer the smooth forceless rides that B and M is quite capable of building, when that is what the park wants...

I actually think that if most younguns were lucky enough to ride a Harry Traver coaster, they'd be first in line to file a lawsuit. How could the park allow such a violent ride to operate, they'd say:

http://www.geocities.com/historic_coasters1/cb_cyclone.html

http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coast...r/traver5.shtml

Oh, please, they'd say, let me ride another smooth, forceless steel coaster.

B & M can and does build rides with strong forces. See, for example, Nitro. They can also build Hydra or Apollo's Chariot. It's all up to what the park wants. Wonder what Kings Island would want?
