February 13, 200818 yr Kings Island has 4 wood coasters and 10 (11) Steel Coasters, The last Wooden Coaster at Kings Island was, well, we all know how that turned out. So, will they build another?
February 13, 200818 yr Yes, another wood coaster will be built at Kings Island some day. Current trends would indicate a GCII coaster. When? That is the question.
February 13, 200818 yr Purely speculation, but if they did, perhaps it would be one similar to "Excalibur" at Funtown/Splashtown in Saco, Maine (there are POVs on YT). Maybe it would be introduced during the "next great coaster era", sometime within the next 20 years? It's hard to guess. Harder still, is trying to guess where at KI such a coaster would go.
February 13, 200818 yr When is difficult to pinpoint...but to say that the roller coaster community has moved on is ridiculous....a lot of parks are still building wooden roller coasters...
February 13, 200818 yr The next wooden roller coaster Kings Island builds could be of the smaller twister style rides or at least I would help. With the success of Thunder Head at Dollywood I really wouldn't see why Kings Island couldn't add a nice quick paced wooden ride. They are usually cheaper to build than steel and I think would be well recieved at Kings Island. They could even use the Italian Job area with an under ground tunnel or something and have the ride move on to the Paramount Story which is really no longer needed or do you think that would be too far apart?
February 13, 200818 yr It would be cool to see the KI skyline lit up with a nice twister, painted bright yellow like the old Scooby Doo (FOC).
February 13, 200818 yr They need a smaller twister. That could be a very welcome addition to KI. They have SoB--a hyper, The Beast--the longest wooden--terrain, The Racer--racing wooden out and back, and Beastie--a junior double out and back, so a twister could be a very exciting concept. I don't see this happening for quite some time, but you never know. Eventually I speculate that they'll build another, and then there it will be--trim brake and all.
February 13, 200818 yr Although I like the Italian Job: Stunt Track a.k.a. Backlot Stunt Coaster, I would have much rather seen the Antique cars removed for a wooden coaster, an idea that had been thrown around by Paramount Parks a few times. Preston T. Tuckers/Happy Days/Jukebox Diner would have made a nice Stan Mikita's next to a coaster that could make you hurl, and I think Son of Beast would have looked and been better as a clone of the Rye Airplane coaster.
February 13, 200818 yr Unfortunately, even Paramount didn't do those things.....Lands knows they should have. Then again, up Cedar Point way, a redo of the Cedar Point Cyclone has long been rumored, but has never happened. Hope springs eternal... Yes, Cedar Point had a Harry Traver creation: http://www.rcdb.com/id1580.htm http://www.thepointol.com/cponle/postcards/cyclone.jpg
February 14, 200818 yr I definitely see another wooden coaster at some point. My money would be on either a GCII or GG twister. Location would probably be somewhere out in the woods on the edges of the park, maybe out on the other side of the railroad between Rivertown and WWC.
