And for those who wonder, Frank Doninger is now Director of Operations at The Great Escape, a member of the Six Flags Theme Park Family, in Glens Falls, NY.

You might also say that KK is suffering from shrinkage...

Has their admission price been reduced at all to account for the decline in attractions?

Well, I picked up season passes yesterday for $35...that seems cheaper than past years.

why is everybody dising SFKK

$35? WOW! is this pass only good at SFKK? Or ALL Six Flags parks?

I'm not doubting the $35 price....I'm just wondering what one has to do to get it....

Doesn't apply to me (my Six Flags Over Georgia pass is hot in my grubby little fingers!)...but others would want to know!

I got mine from aaa and yes is gets you into all six flags parks.

Each AAA Club sets its own pricing. And some have member prices and non-member prices. I assume you bought it from AAA in Louisville?

in that case, forget that.

But i will go there once or twice.

Well a regular adult admission ticket is 35 dollars, if you are going to go twice it may be beneficial to just get a bass and save some money. 50 dollars for a pass isn't bad, thats what I plan to do, visit SFKK once, and some other flags parks elsewhere.

Question: How is SFKK with pass processing, is it a long, bitter experience like it seems to be at Kings Island?

Wow i was just about to post the same link. I cannot see this helping out the park in any way what so ever. I do believe we are seeing the slow decline of SFKK.

So, since the same thing is going on at Great Adventure in New Jersey, Six Flags' flagship park, are we to believe that we are seeing the slow decline of SFGAd?

I read on someones link that they posted that in the area of the park being closed at SFGA there are only two currently operating flat rides and its a much smaller area. I think it's the area where Batman and Robin used to be. So i don't think it's quite the same thing as closing off 2 of your bigger attractions.

Yes, the AAA in Louisville on Fern Valley Road.

It's not too bad. I think last year it took maybe 5 minutes.

The area at Great Adventure that will not be open to the public this year is much larger than the area at Kentucky Kingdom that won't be open. And it is NOT the area where Batman and Robin: The Chiller was. That, you see, will be Dark Knight, the new indoor highly themed mousey...

Don't tell anybody, but underneath all the theming, it's the same exact Mousey you can find at Carowinds (but not at Kings Dominion...)

^ It'll be a Mousey?

Thats the last straw, I am Definately going!

Right with ya!

I personally DO NOT like the safety record of the park for one. I'm sure alot of people are uneasy about it but there are still those who like it. For two, I have seen more techincal problems and people stuck in loops of rides there than at any park in my whole entire life. What reason do I have to believe it got better since I went there, after all a few years later someone gets their ankles cut off. Albiet I don't think the public knows for sure if it was a freak accident or what. I certainly don't want to question it that much. Especially if the public doesn't know. At least I know what happened on SOB. I have been visiting theme parks for 22 years. Not just KK. Everyone is entitled to their opinion aren't they? Why can't we agree to disagree? I would def. go to other six flags parks, but not KK. Not in a million years. I saw first hand how well the maintence at that park was and it isn't enough for my liking. I am aware people have got hurt at KI too, but irregardless, I have experienced less announcements about tech difficulties and safety issues from KI than KK. I hope you can understand that I don't feel like being injured and I'm going to take what I think to at least be a SAFER path. Of course it always comes with a risk. (some of the stuff at KI was from people being stupid or freak accidents, but AT LEAST, there is some understanding of what happened)

I personally, try to be aware of the risk, just like with skydiving and para-sailing (God, that is sooo fun!). So I choose para-sailing cause at least I can fall potentionally into the ocean instead of the ground. Before you flame me at least consider that I have legitimate reasoning for my feelings. Maybe the park has gotten better but I wasn't impressed then and I'm not really impressed now. BTW, I generally ignore flames.

On the other hand, feeling like I was really flying might be nice. Maybe when I've done more with my life I'll feel like risking it skydiving. Sorry, that's way off topic. ^_^

I MIGHT go there for a mouse coaster, just because.. well read my sig.

ok when has SFKK had a bad safety record the last time I checked the accident was the 1st mojor accident of the parks history and also the park maintence i think is great at SFKK because theres always a mechanic around. one time I got stuck on chang and the mechanic came up to us and told us what was going on and we where off in less then 5min. So I disagree with you on all points.

Thanks Neo! When is opening day at the Kingdom?

Its May, 10th

I'll be there!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thanks RCfreak, i think ill probably head down there some time during the week, with the camera in tow.

Yeah...i'll probley do the same and take some good pictures of the water park construction. :)

Thats a shame that Twisted Twins won't be open, I love me some wooden coasters. Thunder Run looks promising though! A 150 ft. ferris wheel! :D

Its a huge shame but Thunder Run is awsome and so is the ferris wheel.

so you havn't been to SFKK Gordan?

No, I have not, and truth be told the only reason I really am going, is because it has the best deal on Six Flags passes, which are good at all Six Flags parks. Originally I had planned to go to Six Flags over Georgia and Carowinds with some folks over spring break, but a speeding ticket and lack of funds put a damper on that. I still have plans to make the drive out to Six Flags Great Adventure this summer, so I plan on at least visiting SFKK once, getting a pass, then using said pass up north at Great Adventure. However, due to my interest in the history of Lesourdsville Lake, and enjoyment of wooden roller coasters, I am looking forward to riding Thunder Run.

Thats cool Thunder Run is a great ride you will love it tones of airtime! Chang is also one of the best standps out there!
