March 23, 200818 yr from: http://www.morningjournal.com/site/news.cf...46377&rfi=6 ....The city could see progress on another business development to cement Sandusky as the base of operations for Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. The company is investigating a new corporate headquarters at its flagship park, Cedar Point. Since acquiring the additional parks, Cedar Fair has appointed or will find new corporate vice presidents of safety and engineering, marketing and advertising, retail buying, information systems, tax and general counsel, said Stacy Frole, corporate director of investor relations. Some of those offices will require support staff with new directors, managers and buyers working in the same fields, she said. "That is a very big deal for the city," Murray said. "The new headquarters here will secure their presence here for decades to come."... (just like Paramount Parks' bigwigs' presence in Charlotte secured its headquarters presence for decades to come?)
March 23, 200818 yr As long as they help out little old us down here! I would think that Cedar Point will Be there for a while, and unless anoth park starts to grow so much it's hard to manege from accross the county, Cedar Fair is staying right there to.
March 23, 200818 yr Author Cedar Fair might be....but many thought Paramount Parks was staying forever in Charlotte, too.......the point is if someone else buys Cedar Fair, the chances of the acquirer keeping the Sandusky office are rather slim. Face it, absent Mr. Kinzel, not many upper level corporate types would PREFER to winter in Sandusky, Ohio on Lake Erie.
March 23, 200818 yr A friend of my mother told me that when she lived in Sandusky, there are not that many months with nice weather. I would love to get a job at CP or KI in accounting. However, I have no idea of how you would even apply for such a job.

March 23, 200818 yr I have never visited Cedar Fair. Geography, family, and a lack fo time have prevented it. But I plan to visit when my son is old enough. Best regards, Italian Chef

March 23, 200818 yr I wonder if any of these new VP positions will actually be recruited from experienced industry types, or if CF will continue to fill its ranks from only within the Sandusky Chamber of Commerce. You know, maybe the ad manager from the local radio station can be the new VP of marketing...

March 23, 200818 yr When a company hires employees close to home they tend to get some pretty loyal employees, as they are grateful for the break/opportunity. This could come back and bit Sandusky though (I’ll explain) if another company was to buyout Cedar Fair and replace the management - half of Sandusky could be suddenly unemployed.
March 24, 200818 yr There are lots of advantages to Sandusky. One is the airport right across from CP - on the mainland. Another is a central loaction to CP, KI, GL, & MA -and not that far from Canada. Good Highway access, too!
March 24, 200818 yr Author That geographic center of the chain is exactly the argument Gary Story used to move Six Flags' offices to Oklahoma City (where he was from). And when Snyder took over Flags...down went the Oklahoma City offices, and back they went to New York City...
March 24, 200818 yr But Mr. Kinzel has residence across from the park, too - and you can see the sun rise and set very well from his point of view!
