Tidbit on the Air Show at the Knivel Jump

Featured Replies

Word from under the black hat is that the air show which will be before the Knievel jump will be a similar recreation of the air show before his father's jump. This will feature flyovers, acrobatics, parachuters, etc. Don't miss it!

Do we have a time when this pre jump air show will take place?

The fine details of the entertainment lineup will be released within the next few days.

All Im wondering is what kind of planes there are.

The air show used to consist of hot air balloons, a couple of bi-planes and a DC-3 in a C-53D-DO configuration for the parachute jump platform. All sponsored by Firestone, I know the C-53 still exist and was last seen in 2005, it was stationed in Wilmington. I do not know what happened to the bi-planes or balloons. Here is the plane, this says that it was taken in 1979 but I think it was more like 1989. It had a fresh paint job in 1991 when I saw it in Cleveland.

This is a recreation of the one before Evel Knievel's jump, not the nightly air show.

Ohhh, I was kinda excited if it were like the nightly air show.

That would have been something to pull off.
