Steve
Well, my friend and I arrived in Boomerag Bay around opening(11am). The rain was coming down rather hard, but without thunder or lightning. It had to have been some of the most fun I'd had in quite a while!! We rode a total of 21 rides in 1.5 hours!!! We started off on the Tasmanian Typhoon since I had never ridden it. The ride itself was a little short but def not worth missing! I liked the waterfall at the top before you go into the dark tunnel, then the rushing drop into the funnel. We tried to gain as much speed as possible and really got high swings in the funnel! We spent a little while in the wave pool, fun as usual. The down under thunder slide (4 blue winding ones) had to be the worst ride of the day. I almost got stuck! (At 145lbs thank you!). Water was building up behind me partway through but my friend said I rode it incorrectly with my arms behind my head. The highlight of the day HAD to be the Coolangetta Racer. I feel so foolish about complaining about the fast tracks being removed now. We rode it a total of 12 times! Our first run, my friend won by picking the faster side (3) but what was interesting was how we performed after the final drop into the bottom trough. My friend burried the front of his mat kinda like the Wild Thornberry's log flume burries it's nose after the final drop, and ate water coming to a quick stop. I inadvertantly pulled back a little as I didn't want to eat a bunch of water and I soared along the surface a good 50 feet kind of like a Hydroflume(KCKC)! I got serious airtime as I soared and it was really an adrenaline rush! We got off our mats and out a good 40 feet apart! We had SO much fun having competitions to see who could go the fastest, the slowest, who could travel the least distance(bury the front), or who could fly along the surface the farthest(speedboat). He ended up winning 10/12 races but I was the undisputed master of distance in the trough! We also hit the Banzi Pipline or whatever, which burned our backs and was just a short rush. The sidney sidwinder and snowy river rampage were fun also. The sidney sidwinder was fairly calm, while the snowy river rampage (bigger tube) was bumpier. We had such a great time, and if another rainy day (without thunder or lightning of course) I'd seriously consider making a trip to boomerang bay! Everything was a walk-on!! We were plenty warm and comfortable also. The Coolangetta racers got the prize of the day, and I think you guys would really enjoy trying to manipulate your speed and landing like we did!! Steve
Yeah, the next time the skys are dark yet there is no chance of thunder or lightning, I'd highly recommend enjoying the walk-on spectacular.
