italianchef
The last 3 times I took my (4-year old) son to Kings Island, always on a Friday, lines were short and we had a great time. So I decided to take him today, Wednesday, thinking we'd have no lines. I was VERY wrong. On the way to the park - and on the way back - several cicadas ended their lives on my windshield. And we saw quite a few at the park. We were there at 10 a.m. and I was surprised to see how many people were at the park. I realized it while I was driving into the park. After arriving, we got photographed with Angelica Pickles. First we rode Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. We did poorly, 630 to 30. Then we rode again and did better, 1140 to 60. At that point in my life, 1140 was the highest score I EVER got. Then my son rode Backyardigan's Swing-Along, followed by Jimmy Neutron's Atom Smasher. After that, we rode Lazytown Sportcopters and Nick-O-Round. My son chose to ride a horse instead of a bench for a pleasant change. My son had an ice cream snack after that. And we took pictures with Scooby Doo, Wanda, Cosmo, Little Bill, and Jimmy Neutron. After that, my son and I rode Fairly Odd Coaster twice - and waited nearly 30 minutes the second time! The park was REALLY crowded today! Next we rode Kings Island & Miami Valley Railroad TWICE. By then it was 2 p.m. and we headed to Central Grill for lunch. My son had chicken tenders and fries. Due to low energy, I did the unthinkable and ate a cheeseburger. It was delicious!!!! I suppose my cholesterol won't shoot up 100 point from one burger. Thereafter, we rode Timmy's Sky Tours, followed by Plankton's Plunge. We finished the day with two more rides on Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. I scored 1410 to my son's 60 the first time. In all my years of playing SDATHC, 1410 was my absolute highest score. I lost track of score on the second time because my son fell asleep. So we left at 3:30 p.m. We had some nice experiences. But both my son and I were irritated by the HUGE crowds. Why were so many people in the park on a Wednesday???? And why did cicadas end their lives on my windshield?? Best regards, Italian Chef
KIfan73
Nice TR. I was thinking about going sometime next week, on a weekday. Wonder which day I should choose now?
Kawana
Uh-Oh. My union day is next week on a Wednesday. I hope it's not packed like that. Thanks for the TR. Better your windshield than your face, eh?
Cormaster
For the most part you're safe with a weekday but every now and then a weekday can just be crowded. Usually there is SOME reason for that, ie schools just got let out, schools are about to go back in, Scouts day, etc. Glad you still managed to have a good day with your son. The Interpreter
Or, in this particular case perhaps, large groups...like, say, a union!
Cormaster
Union Day is when my dad always took me when I was a kid. He is a retired UAW worker. He always got tickets pretty cheap because of it, and it usually wasn't too bad. Now one year we got suckered into going on the 4th of July. They all told us "oh its not bad, no one goes to KI because they all have cookouts to go too" and we bought it, and they couldn't of been farther from the truth. IT was the most packed day I had ever seen at Kings Island!
CoastersRZ
Well, I`ve been to KI a couple times on the Fourth of July when they used to do Nights of Fire, and the park was fairly crowded. It all depends on the weather, and how many groups are at the park on any given day. However, at Coney, the busy day is July 3rd. That is when the LaRosa`s balloon glow occurs, and the park stays open until 10pm (normally the rides close at 9). The day is capped off with a Rozzi`s fireworks display on the banks of Lake Como. Surprisingly, July 4th is usually a very empty day to visit Coney.
Ampersand
Interesting. I was thinking about taking my son tonight for a few hours so he could get his pass processed. But I prefer lighter crowds (well light for King's Island anyway). I actually wanted to go first thing this morning but I was waiting on friends...who ended up getting sick anyway and can't go now. To go or not to go? Hmm.... I went on a Tuesday last week and it was so hot that the lines in the park were very short (which was awesome). Everyone with more sense than me must have been at Boomerang Bay.
