Son of Beast or Pain Train?

There really are no "best" places to ride other than in the middle seat of whatever car, just to get off of the wheels. The only other two things you really need to know to ride this are: 1) Your legs must become fluid and go with the motions, keeping them stiff only increases the bashing, 2) Bring some kind of medication for the after-ride headache you will get until you ride it enough to get used to it.

I love SOB. It's the best ride in the planet!

Its good no matter where you sit, but my favorite seat is 62, last car, middle row. All you have to do is anticipate the moves. Basically, after the drop, at the top of the second hill, lean to the left real quick, then the right, then the left, then the right, then the left, then the right - I call it the SOB dance (don't do it and youll wish you did!) - and after that just kind of do whats natural. Really the only place you have to move yourself (the SOB dance) is at the top of the second hill.

Also, don't put your head against the headrest. Lean your shoulders against it, and keep your neck inline, but forward with your shoulders.

You have to understand SOB. If you don't, you think its rough. If you understand it on a deep level, you kind of know whats going on.

My last ride of the season, 33rd in three weeks, I hit my head on my lap bar. But its still my favorite!!! :D :cowboy:

I agree with all the helpful ways to ride SOB. My only problem with that is, shouldn't you be able to ride a coaster without having to ride it defensively? To me, that takes some of the fun out of it. Not to mention those awful trains that constantly shift back and forth.

Also, it would be a good idea to get an MRI done afterwards. :P

It also depends on your size as well. I'm tall so it is a very painful ride when your knees are bouncing off the grab bar in front of you. I find that seat 6.2 is the best seat for me anyways. If they would just get rid of that raised floor on the train would help us tall people out. They need to get rid of those trains and get new, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
