CoastersRZ
Today, Thursday July 17th is the annual Jimmy Buffett concert at Riverbend Music Center. This year marks the 20th anniversary of his first show at Riverbend, which occurred in 1988. This year`s show sold out in just ten minutes, making it Buffett`s 41st consecutive sell out at Riverbend. Prior to performing at Riverbend, Buffett had shows at Kings Island in Timberwolf Ampitheater from 1984-1987. All six of the shows that he did at Kings Island also sold out! And it was the 1985 show at Timberwolf where Timothy B. Schmidt, a current member of the Eagles, coined the term "parrotheads." So if you are one of the ones lucky enough to see Buffett at Riverbend, have fun! Otherwise, be forewarned that the tailgating along Kellogg Avenue outside of Riverbend and Coney starts fairly early, and can snarl traffic. welchce
I will be working the concert. You can normally find me in the trench between the pavilion and the lawn.
Mr. Christopher
I will be working the concert. You can normally find me in the trench between the pavilion and the lawn. I always hated working that area. For most of the season, I was right smack in the center by the sound booth. Best spot in the house. pilotank
Buffet has deep roots in Cincinnati (i.e. Mt. Adams, Music Hall, ATP, Timberwolf) and now Riverbend. Buffet continues to come to Cincinnati even though it's one of his smallest venues he plays. Says a lot for not forgetting where it all started! pilotank
Thrill_Biscuit
"Parrotheads" was born at Kings Island!?! Wow! Another cool KI connection. Timothy B. Schmidt is the voice of "I Can't Tell You Why" and "Love Will Keep Us Alive", two of the Eagles' greatest songs IMHO.
