Colonel_SoB_fan
Arrived at Cedar Point around 2:30 on July 26, 2008 for Day 1 of our annual trip up to CP. The park was absolutely jammed packed on this day. The rumor of 65k in the park was most likely true. Although it was packed I never waited more than 1 hour and 30 minutes, which was for Maverick. I give Kudos to Cedar Point for keeping the rides up and the lines constantly moving. I started the day off with a 55 minute wait for Magnum XL 200. Great ride and I can only hope the Hyper coaster Kings Island is getting has just as much if not more airtime as Magnum does. Then it was off to Maverick. After Maverick we headed towards Mantis and saw the sign said 1 3/4 hour wait, so we decided to go ahead and wait it. Mantis actually on took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to wait. We then went on and waited about 20 minutes on Iron Dragon. After Iron Dragon, my family and I were getting hungry so we went to the Game Day Grille, this was around 8:25. It was about a 30 minute wait so my dad and I decided to go and do Blue Streak and Calypso since both looked to be walkons, and they were. I never realized Blue Streak was that rough. After dinner it was about 9:25 so we went over to the Iron Dragon midway and watched the Fire up the Night show. After the show we did a night ride on the Wicked Twister in the second row. After Wicked Twister the park was ready to close and so were we, we headed back to our motel. Day two began for us at 9:00 AM with our platinum passes getting us ERTs on Raptor, Millenium Force, Maverick, and Sky Hawk. In that one hour we did Raptor, Millenium Force, and got in line for Maverick, about 5 minutes before the GP. After Maverick we did the little Antique Caddillic cars beside Maverick. After our little stroll through the area ad no wait, we decided to try out Sky Hawk since it had no line. This ride is better than it looks, but it needs to go longer than it does. After Skyhawk we also hit up the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, this was only about a 10 minute wait. After this my dad knew some people and got us a free lunch out by the beach at the Coral Courtyard. So we stayed there up until 1 PM, then we decided to hit up the All Wheels Extreme show, GREAT SHOW. My only complaint is the skateborder guy really did not do anything spectacular like everyone else did. But only CP can take extreme sports and make it into a show, instead of a bunch of kids just doing whatever they feel like. After this show I felt like I needed to get some Airtime so we hit up Maxair. Being from Kings Island I have to admit that this put Delirum to shame. Maxair was just great. We waited about 30 minutes for it. After Maxair I still had not had enough of the sky so we went towards Top Thrill Dragester. Since the opening of TTD I had never seen the line so short. We waited about 50 minutes to ride TTD. Although it is only 17 seconds long it was worth the wait. We had 3rd row seats and it was amazing. After TTD we headed over to Demon Drop, since you never know when your final Demon Drop ride will occur. We waited about 15 minutes for the ride. After Demon Drop we went over to the Centinenal(sp) Theater and watched that Signed, Sealed, Delivered show and it was as well a very good show. I really didn't like that style of music but will say it was a very good show. After this we were tired and decided to leave the park and get dinner and start our 3 1/2 hour drive home. It was about 4:30 when we left CP. Now for some photos B&Ms!!!!!!!!! shut down all weekend Max air>Delirum. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Delirum SNOOPY, almost as good as Scooby
tigellinus
55 minute wait for Magnum?! No offense since I know it was busy (darn Cleveland Clinic!!), but waiting that long would be inconceivable to me!!! I literally choked on my own air when I read that! Colonel_SoB_fan
I feel like it was worth it. Just remember without Magnum first breaking the 200 foot barrier we may not be talking the same talk about project 2009. Also Magnum is a great ride. Kawana
I hope the lines are a bit more bearable for my trip up in August (16-17). I know the weekends are busier, but it's the only time we can go. Sounds like fun, and I'm glad you were able to get some early rides in. That seems to be the best bet for us too.
KIBeast
I would think that it wouldn't be as busy considering Cleveland Clinic was there. Have a great time and give us a nice TR. FF EKU dawg 4 life, you got some really interesting (and great) pics of Dragster, MF, and Raptor.

House
I'm leaving for Cedar Point at 4 am. I'll at Cedar Point the 31st, 1st and 2nd. I'm hoping to get Maverick and Millinum both in during ERT. Then head to Dragster before the line is too long. I was there a year ago on the 30th and 31st of July, one of the days there we had Raptor pretty much all to ourselves for an hour during ERT, that was great Edit: Is it possible to enter the park by breakers even if you aren't staying there? That would be great as it would be way closer to Maverick. If so do they let platinum passholders in at 9 from that gate?

The rumor of 65k in the park was most likely true. HAHA, not even close!! They were expecting around 60k (which is close to the record) but only ended up with about 45k on Saturday. The parking lot wasn't even completely full on Saturday, the bay side (left side) parking lot still had 4 rows left empty in the back. The front parking lot only holds around 5,000 cars so if every car averaged 4 people, that's 25k and the hotels, campground, and marina added a few k's. The Interpreter
...Edit: Is it possible to enter the park by breakers even if you aren't staying there? That would be great as it would be way closer to Maverick. If so do they let platinum passholders in at 9 from that gate? Yes and yes. That's the Soak City/Magnum entrance...just use the far left tolls as you enter the parking area and tell them you are going to Soak City...drive around the perimeter road, and be sure to park BEFORE getting to the Breakers lot (which is for Breakers guests ONLY and is heavily patrolled...) I usually park by Gemini!

Delirium33
I'm making my first Cedar Point trip on the 6th (Ironic date, ha). I'm very excited. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations of places to eat in or around the park.
The Interpreter
If you get pizza in the park, it is far, far better back by Maverick in the former Chuckwagon location than it is in the front of the park at Patio Pizza. Frozen custard is available by the ball fountain on the midway at the front of the park, or in the back of the park by Maverick. The stuff they sell over by Disaster Transport and the kissing tower thing is NOT frozen custard and is nowhere near as good. I really, really like Coasters and Johnny Rockets. Macaroni's is gone, so I can't recommend that! Game Day Grille is not bad. Others will recommend Midway Market...and I will not....it is similar to the Wings Buffet deal at Kings Island...if that's your bag, have at it. And Cedar Point is a Pepsi park... The Interpreter
I am a huge barbecue fan. I will give Famous Dave's this...they have great chopped pork sandwiches...and their salads are great. The rest of the "barbecue?" Bland and often overcooked. Oh, you think I meant to say pulled pork? Read the menu. They used to call it that...but the government made them change to calling theirs what it is....chopped and not pulled...
gnarkiller
Looks like you had fun. I wonder why Mean Streak was shut down? IMO I like delerium more than Max Air but watever floats your boat.

I think the Beef Brisket dinner or sandwich is very good, but my favorite is the Cajun Chicken Sandwich!!! YUM-O

IMO I like delerium more than Max Air but watever floats your boat. Of course there are rumors flying around upthere about Mean streak but none are probably true. See Delirum has to long of a line for maybe 3 or 4 big air swings. Max Air seemed faster and higher. I counted 6 big air swings and the ride did seem longer than Delirum. House
I forgot to ask, do we need to still go to guest relations like we did last year, since our home base is KI? I'll check the boards from my phone on the way there to see if any of you guys answer. Thanks!
The Interpreter
No, you do not need to go to GR...your KI Platinum Pass should scan just fine at Cedar Point.
Colonel_SoB_fan
Yes with a platinum pass you are a VIP at any Cedar Fair park, which works out nicely at 9 AM at CP

Delirium33
Thanks for all food advice! I love frozen custard so I'll have to try that. And I'm thinking were gonna for sure eat at coasters one day. Oh and at Knott's our platinum passes had to be taken to guest relations to get tickets that would scan.
