Disney Raises Ticket Prices...

Recommended Posts

Disney World increased ticket prices effective Sunday to $75 a ticket. Children tickets were raised as well to $63 a ticket.

I realize that this is a raise of roughly 5% in price, but how high is to high? Disney is pricing their single day tickets to the point to where guests will either purchase the multi day park hopper or not visit at all.

Especially in these economic times I cannot see this as a good business move. Vacationers are already considering staying closer to home because of gas prices and now with an increase in ticket prices, one more reasson to visit your local park instead of going to Florida.

My humble opinion I would rather stay at the Royal Pacific at Universal for a week, live at USF and IOA, party at City Walk, and visit the Busch Parks before I spend a dime at Disney. But thats just me.

I think that when most people go to DW, they buy the park hopper so they can visit each park. I am sure they sell much more park hoppers, or multi-day passes over single day passes since a majoirty of those attending the park are from out of town. As for those staying closer to home, I used to work with someone who lived in Orlando, and she said that most of the locals had season passes to DW.

RailRaider – in a few years from now your daughter is not going to stand for Universals thrill rides but rather be looking forward to visiting with princes and other characters. So you may want to look ahead and start accepting your fait.

Yes the prices went up as Disney is still doing well with international visitors and with high resort occupancy rates. We go in the off season and save big. In fact on our average day cost per person staying on Disney Site including a Value Room, Transpiration to all Disney locations, Park Ticket, meals including 1 table service meal (waiter service) 1 counter service meal and 1 snack, cost us $75.00 per person per day.

I just saying you can get all that for the same price of a one day park ticket. Just got to look for the deals, they are there.

BTW – if/when the next time you and your family go let me know I can give you some great tips on Disney World including how to get some of those must do dinning choices like Cinderella’s Royal Table in the castle. I want to see those pictures.

RailRider – I don’t know how to break this to you but to just come out and say it. Universal Studious is raising thier ticket prices tomorrow as well and is believed to follow tradition of always charging $1 more to park than Disney charges, so parking is expected to go up too.

The reason is for the new coaster and the new Harry Potter area. sorry to be the one to tell you.

And Busch will no doubt follow, making the Florida ticket price rise...universal.

Actually, Busch lead the pack this time around. All the Florida parks just raised ticket prices less than 2 weeks ago. SeaWorld went to $69.95, Aquatica went to $41.95 I believe and I know Busch Gardens Africa raised as well. Regardless of the price, I still don't find Disney to be that expensive....given the experiences that you have there. Hands down, they rule the market in Orlando and none of the others can even come close to comparing.....so obviously people don't mind paying the money.

I'd actually like to see the percentage of people that pay the full price to any of the Florida parks. Being that all parks offer quite substantial discounts through hotels, stores, grocery stores and just about anywhere you walk into; I could not see anyone paying more than half of the face value.

Very true. About the only ones you can't find a discount for are the Disney Parks...unless you are a Florida resident. I think Universal is the worse about giving away their gate, but Busch isn't far behind. All SeaWorld tickets can be validated for a second day, to be used within a week or the first use. Also, they have the Funcard for Florida residents.....pay for a day and come back the rest of the year!

I actually can not tell you the last time that I paid full admission to any park in Florida, including Disney.
