Jasper
Hello KIC'ers Jasper here reporting from the Sheraton New York in Times Square. Well today we took a walking tour to Ground Zero and out to the Statue Of Liberty. We also ventured into Chinatown and Little Italy as well as walking on the Brooklyn Bridge. I have photos but they are on my computer which currently has no internet access so when i return home i will upload them ASAP. Yesterday i had the privelage of attending a Yankees game and walking around Times Square. First off is Time Square. This place is amazing and it is always bustling with life. I love the little shops that sell discounted stuff and the I Heart NY shirts. The vendors who are giving out coupons though do sometimes annoy me. The place is very bright and full of great shops and places to eat such as ESPN Zone and Hard Rock Cafe just to name a couple. There are also so many advertisements lighting up the night. I love this place especially at night. Secondly is The Statue Of Liberty. We went on a walking tour so we got our tickets pre-ordered and got them to go up in the statue itself. We got to Battery Park and i look out into the Hudson i believe and sure enough there stands Lady Liberty in all her glory. It was so awesome to actually se something i have only seen in school books. It took us a while to actually get to go into the statue due to the airport type security. When we did get to go up in the statue to the base i irushed up the stairs to get out and see a sight that many hae never seen before and that is the New York skyline. It was awe inspiring to see.. I snapped several pics of these gigantic buildings. I give the Statue Of Liberty a must visit for anyone who goes to visit New York. Last off is Ground Zero. Let me start off by saying you have not really breached the skin of this until you have been here and actually been up close and been able to see the mass amount of damage that was caused. It really makes you think and make you ant to reflect back on your life. Ground Zero was amazing. Out tour guide took us through the American Express HQ to get a good view of the whole area. Inside the front doors is a monument deddicated to those who lost their life working for American Express. The monument has a crystal teardrop hanging in the middle with the names around the outside. Every 2 or 3 seconds a little drop of water falls on the name to symbolize the tears being shed for these brave people. As we proceeded inside the building we got to the actual area where we could look over into where the south tower was. It was so surreal to actually be here and see this massive area where these towers once stood. This area is very very deep and very large. you cannot put into perspective how huge these buildngs really were. As we coninued our tour we saw a ridge that was dinged u from where the rbble had hit it, we saw the fire station that had the most casualties, and St. Paul Cathedral where the NYPD and FDNY officers went to get rest from, "The Pit." as they called it. Just going through all these things and seeing the actual site really had an impact on me. So you can expext another heart felt wish to the September 11th victims when that day comes. Tommorrow we are taking a double decker bus around the city and probably going up to th eery very tip top of the Empire State Building so expect some very col visuals from that. We are also going to go to Central Par to take a carriage ride and go shopping at some huge malls. I forgot to mention how awesome Yankee Stadium was. To see this classic ballpark in its final year was amazing experience. I will never forget my visit to this place. Jasper saying so long KIC'ers!! From the Big Apple i shall return tommorrow with more things to report on. PS-So far no Coney Island but hopefully i will reach there to ride the Cyclone!! Jasper
Hola Senors y Senoritas! Jasper here again with another update from NYC. Yesterday we took a double decker bus tour uptown through Harlem and around Central Park. Sadly i did not get to go to Central Park but i got to see it and i think i snapped some good pics of it. The bus tour was great the tour guide filled us with a lot of information that i did not know like where everyone lived and such things. We passed the apartments where Bono of U2 lived, Robert DeNiro, and the apartment where John Lennon was shot at. After the uptown loop we got on the downtown loop which took us by Battery Park, Ground Zero, 34th Street, and all of lower Manhatten. We got off in Greenwhich Village to go and eat at Grays Papaya. The hot dogs were not quite as good as Nathan's but they were pretty good. We then boarded the bus to go down the rest of the downtown loop. We got off at Battery Park and went to see the Staten Island ferry and went inside there to pick up our subway tickets. Rode the subway back to Times Square. Now here comes part 2. Ok here is part 2. We left our hotel to go find something to eat because all we had were those 2 hot dogs. We could not find a good burger joint that we had saw on the internet and by this time it was around 7 or 730. Well my mom wanted to go to Macy's and me and my dad had free tickets to go up in the Empire State Building. The line to get in the building was over an hour but i wanted to wait in it anyway. Well with our tickets we only got to go to the 86th floor and the 102nd floor was optional. We payed the 15 dollars and boarded the elevator to the 86th floor. Well 86 floors in 37 seconds is not bad. That thing flew up the tower and our ears popped like no other. We got off the elevator and went out to see the observation deck. This next part needs a paragraph all to its self. Ok we stepped out to where the observation deck was and all i can say is, well i cant even put it into words. I mean it was breathtaking being as the highest i have ever been is on TTD 860 feet was a far cry from 420. And this was only the 86th floor. Oh BTW the elevator only takes to the 80th floor. Well they said if you do not want to wait for the elevator you can walk up the remaining 6 floors. Well i took this oppurtunity to see these stairs and walk up them. It was not tat bad the stairs were enclosed and everything and then we boarded the mainteneance elevator to go to the 102nd floor. When i stepped out of the elevator oh man. This view from 1026 feet in thew air was breathtakingly surreal. Unfortunately it was dark and i could not see anything but the bright lights of NYC. Looking down on the Chrystler Building was amazing. If i had been day i would have been able to see lady liberty, ground zero, central park, and many other sights. We stayed up there for about 15-20 minutes then we returned back down to terra firma and went to eat at Hard Rock Cafe New York. Now i am sitting in a hotel room in Cooperstown New York and we are planning on going to the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. We are returning home Friday and i will post all the pics then. Well guys sorry no Coney Island, no Great Adventure but still New York was amazing. Definately one of those things you need to do before you die. My most breathtaking experiences were my visit to Ground Zero, my visit to the top of The Empire State Building, and The Statue Of Liberty. The best one though was The Empire State Building. Thanks for reading enjoy the rest of your day here at Kings Island, where else..... wait thats not right.

BoddaH1994
You supplied the wrong link. That one wants a login. Times Sqaure is the best place in New York. When we went last year, I pulled some old favors from Viacom and got us tickets in the studio to TRL. We ended up putzing around and not making it by the casting call, so we just watched everyone stand out in the cold as we ate at the ESPN Zone. lol
