She was hospitalized...and is now out of the hospital. And props do not normally fall on people and cause them to go to the hospital....Still, had this happened in, say, Fargo, North Dakota instead of Long Island, I doubt it would have made the news...

Not to say it wasn't unfortunate, I'll add that.

Terpy, you are right in saying that. I think a lot of the reason for the publication of this was its location. But, it isn't normal nor acceptable for a prop to fall on someone.

I'd say if she was taken to a hospital it must have been a good sized gash. It seems like first aid would have given her a band-aid or something if it was that small. I keep trying to come up with a "bone" pun but I've got nothin :(
