A very Brady Reunion

Maybe it was on one of those 2 $30.00 CD's he was trying to hawk. I found it to be in very poor taste of them to allow a picture to be taken with them as long as you bought something. Needless to say, I got mine without me in it, but photoshop is only a click away!!

You're going to have to explain to me why that is in poor taste. Is it not just the same as going to a book signing? Would you go to an author at a book signing without buying the book?

You're kidding me, right? I have to explain to you how it is ok to take a picture of them together but you have to buy something ($30.00 in cash!) just so that you can step into the picture? They signed ANYTHING that you would give them to sign- that's cool. But to charge you for your own image is in bad taste when you can take the same picture (without you) for FREE!!

Kavalier - I know it sounds like a rip to charge for the photos and I am not debating that, but at most performances and meet/greet signing we have been to normally do this. In fact a lot of them even charge for or purchase of something for the autographs. I felt the Brady’s was reasonable for some items and in truth there where so many people in line that if everyone got a photo their later shows would have needed to be pushed back.

I work in a record store...and it doesn't matter what kind of junk a record label sends us to give away...if it's free people want it! The best case of this I remember is we had free (boring) calenders on our counter...a daughter says to her Mom "Look Mommy, calenders!"...the Mom shot back to her in a mean tone "We don't need a calender"...but when she found out they were free she took THREE!

I think the same is true with this, if they didn't charge to have a picture with them everyone would do it just because it wasn't costing them anything...and the line would come to a standstill.

It's just the way the world works.

I was just wondering if we could compile a list of the songs sung by Greg Brady during his performances today. There was one song towards the end that I found quite touching and would like to find a copy of...Thanks all!

That last one I saw was Those were the days..by Queen I believe. It was one of their last songs with Freddie Mercury before he died. Beautiful piece.

Thank you! Does anyone else know of any of the others...Avatar, you were watching intently do you remember any of the others towards the end.

And, Kavalier, I don't normally say this, it isn't my style....but thanks for hijacking the post.

Cory – by chance did you read my trip report? In it I have three video’ with Barry Williams singing various songs.

http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14740

I have some that I did not put in the report to and will try to play those to hear what they where. I do know the third show did not have the Davey Jones in it so I would be guessing there.

Avatar, I actually have been really busy this past two days, So I have only had time to check my threads on here to check responses. I did just look at your trip report this morning right after I posted that, because I saw that it was a thread written by you...so I knew it would be quality...and it was! Great job on the videos and report!

The last song Barry sang was one I was looking for, but there was another song I liked as well in one of the videos that I believe you didn't put up! It was the song he sang right after Barry talked about auditioning for Pippin and getting the part...

Yeah I did not post that video until I saw your post this morning but I will go ahead and post the video that I think you want here as well.

HTH

The only other song I did not get was his Davey Jones song as he did not sing that or bring up the topic in the third show. If you remember I said after the show he sang one too many, I think someone overheard us and took our advice.

Hope things settle down a bit for you, it seems everybody is on the run these days.

Sounds like a nice balance if they were signing items for free.

Remember these people have bills to pay, as well. I don't think their utility company is going to take payment in the form of "good wishes."

The Brady Bunch was a very popular show and some people only know them by their episode where they came to Kings Island so some people would most likely pay anything to get to see their precious Brady's. Plus i dont think it is wrong where the only way you get a picture is to buy something they are normal people to and they still have to make money.

Cory,

I am sure most of you Brady Bunch fans already know this...but the song in Avatar's video that he posted above is titled "You've Got To Be In Love (To Love A Love Song)"

Here is a youtube clip from The Brady Bunch of "them" singing it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdVW8sFING4

I watched all of Avatar's videos that he shot and put in his trip report..there is nothing really that obscure.

The first video of Greg is him doing a take-off on Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady"...his was probably called "The Real Greg Brady".

The second video is a medley of "I Can See Clearly Now" (Johnny Nash & Jimmy Cliff both had hits of this.) "Good Day Sunshine" (The Beatles) followed by "It's A Sunshine Day" (The Brady Bunch).

The third video with the Brady montage is Queen's "These Are the Days of Our Lives".

Hope that helps.

P.S. Sorry if I also helped hijack the thread.

Avatar, I don't think that is the song still. I remember Barry was talking about auditioning for Pippin and how he had to fly like an eagle and do these arm motions and the producer told him that he did good, "but he was giving him a Cessna, he wanted a 747". After this anecdote, Williams then sang a song about finally getting to the top and getting what he wanted after all of his hardwork. It was something along those lines. And I can't for the life of me come up with three words together in the song to "google" it. I am very sure that he didn't sing Davey Jones or "You've got to be in love" after his anecdote about the arm motions. This was a song about taking hardwork and along the lines of finally making it to the top.

I wasn't sure if I liked the vocals, but I loved the lyrics, and meant to write them down in the theater to google it later and realized I didnt have a pen or paper, lol. Now I am paying for it.

Thanks for the info Standbyme. Don't worry about the hijack thing, you didn't do anything wrong you just replied to an off-topic post. I have dealt with quite a bit these last two days with family matters, and was a little on the edge, My apologies for the sour comment. I kind of felt it was too early in the thread to go diving into negativity. That has been happening more and more recently.

I may have finally found the song I was looking for! It looks to be Corner of the Sky from Pippin. It was also sang by Barry Williams in the Brady Bunch Variety Hour!

I thought that the $30.00 was a bit much. I had to stare at the table for a double take to make sure that I was actually reading the prices correctly. I simply had them autograph their pictures on the park map, with the show schedule. The Two guys ( Greg and Bobby Brady ) were reluctant to speak without making a purchase, which I thought was kinda awkward. But Susan, ( Cindy Brady ) was quite pleasant, and when I asked her if they were gonna ride "The Racer" again, she politely corrected me. She said that yes, they had all taken 3 rides on "The Racer" earlier that morning, and that it was her first time to ride it because she had not done so as a child. She told me to watch the episode to revue the fact that she was not on the ride. Something that otherwise I would not have known. It has been countless years since I have seen The Cincinnati Kids Brady episode. But really, she was quite pleasant.

This has been my 3rd trip to the Park this season. Once for Knievel, Once for Wallenda, and Once for the Brady's. It will most likely be my last, unless I decide to go to the Haunt. I would like to say KUDOS to Cedar Fair for bringing events like these to the park on a year without the introduction of a new ride. It makes up for it in my personal view. Awkwardly enough, like ( Greg Brady, not Slim Shady, goodness that song was annoying in my opinion. ) Anyways like he pointed out, Paramount was the studio that made the Brady Bunch. Weird in my opinion that it took Cedar Fair to bring them back.

Keep up the good work Cedar Fair. You've captured my attention from Florida 3 times.

Although I work for KI (Cedar Fair) I feel the exact same way (and I'm not getting paid to praise them)! A lot of people were very skeptical when hearing the news that Cedar Fair was stepping in to run the park, but now that a few years have passed and we are able to marvel at their efforts with reviving the Kings Island spirit, I think they are worthy of great praise in this endeavour! This is my 6th season working with KI (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2004 and 2008) and I have never seen anything like this! I really didn't think they would attempt to top the July 4th celebration, but this past weekend was simply amazing! I saw a segment on Showbiz Tonight (Sept 2nd) of the spaghetti eating contest - national coverage once more! Nice job Cedar Fair! Thank you for keeping our best interest at heart!

At the 8:00 show, after he talked about Pippin, he sang "This is the Moment" from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. I love this song, but I thought it was odd that he did a Jekyll & Hyde song right after talking about Pippin. Click here for the lyrics.
