You know that Steve Urbanosewic or whatever his name is??

Well, yesterday I was getting around to some stuff on my DVR, and watched an old Travel Channel coaster show I DVR'ed last month that was from 2003 (LONG before I became an enthusiast!), and they had that Steve guy on talking about some GAdv rides-GASM and Nitro.

Anyway, so he said (in 2003 mind you!) his coaster count was over 650!?!? As a somewhat knowledgeable enthusiast nowadays, in 2003, do you think this 650+ count is BS?? I mean, based on the TR's from "that west coast-based site", even the most hard-core world traveling enthusiasts barely have 500 credits, and in 2008!!

So what gives? Was the 650+ in 2003 embellishment, or is he counting Racer as like 3 credits or something with the direction changes?

Sadly, Steve Urbanowicz is no longer with us.

Yes, he rode all those coasters. And then some. He was, at times, a book author:

Public Relations Director for Astroland:

And a very good friend. He is missed.

(as for the coaster count, I don't talk about mine anymore, and don't even count steel. I haven't even been to many of the places Steve made it to. I now count life events, not coasters. Some day you will understand.)

For Steve's coaster bio, this is interesting:

And some of us get regular updates on those life events.

Wow! That is very sad to hear!! That National Geographic special in 2006 (when I first ever heard of him) must have been one of the last things he did publicly....

For now, I am still counting coasters while I'm young, BUT I definitely don't credit wh***! (hence, still having never been on Skull Mountain at GAdv)

Feeling like a n00b.

I have only ridden 25 coasters.

27 if you count both sides of Racer and Gemini.

<_<

In a way, I'm very envious of this!! There's a whole big world out there to explore beyond OH!! My first ever visit to Great Adventure (and first ride's on El Toro & Nitro) was probably the most fun I've ever had in one day! :D
