Only one trip there so far this year (I'm up way too late and should be getting there again in about 9-10 hours with a 2 hour drive). I don't remember a ton about that visit except that it was the last week of May and the lines were long as hell because no rides were open due to school being still in but the park was open weekdays. I also got coaster-blocked another day this year trying to go there but weather was bad so me and my girl hung out in the area for a couple hours then left. Seeing DB in its very early stages was cool. Hopefuly I'll make my memory of the year tomorrow.

And had he really done a cannonball, he'd not have lived to survive it...

OK Terpy I'm curious, what was your favorite memory of 2008?

Walking by the Royal Fountain on International Street and thinking, at the same time, of what once was (going to the park with my first stepmother and my Dad, both no longer with us, and with any of several friends who have passed on), what is--the current season and Cedar Fair's efforts.,...and what is to come...Diamondback and whatever the future brings.

As one gets older, one realizes life is a cycle. Some of my happiest times have been watching the little ones in Nick Universe...and thinking of what is to come.

Terpy, philosophical of late... :)

Wow Terpy that was deep very deep. Thank you for that post. Very phylosophical.

Yes, very deep, unlike the fountains...LOL!!!

But seriously, those of us who are older tend to get very sentimental this time of year when it comes to this topic.....

The best thing about 2008 is that my mom is still alive, and that I have met lots of really cool people this summer, and knocked a whole bunch of things off of my bucket list.

Other than that, for all the hardships 2008 has brought to me personally and to my family, I am so glad that in a little over 2 months, this volatile and utterly inconsistent year will be over with.

If I did pick a favorite memory from this year, there is a tie between hanging with my friends on KIC day and taking two trips up to Cedar Point with friends.

To everyone who has helped me through this year, I thank you, you will never know how much it has meant to me when you have been there for me, or simply lent an ear to my family's health struggles and the likes. You know who you are, and I thank you!

One does not have to be older to be philosophical and sentimental. Life can and does hand many of us curves. Friends, family and even Kings Island can be people and places of solace in times like those. Happy times, sad times...all can be just a little better at that place...and sometimes the opposite is true. After my father passed on, it was quite some time before I could get myself to go back to the place that he sacrificed so much to get me to on opening day way back in 1972. To New Jersey I could go...and did. It was my place of solace when it was just way too hard to go to Kings Island. And now, my friends, you know one of the many reasons that it was to Carowinds I went to Winterfest...and not Kings Island, when that event was reborn. Time helps to heal wounds (I do not believe it heals all wounds...some wounds only get better...even much better...but do not every completely heal...and that is at it should be).

Yes, a trip to Kings Island can be thrill filled. But there are times when it can be contemplative...and that's okay, too.

I find that my trips to KI or any other park have completely changed. No longer do I go thrill to thrill, coaster to coaster, but instead I find myself taking in more of the atmosphere, noticing the smiles on famlies faces and watching my daughter laugh and play. Amusement parks have completely changed for me recently and honestly it has been a great change.

I got nailed in the eye with a cicada while on the rosters. I had kind of a crappy coaster year. Just got to KI about 20 times or so and Cedar Point about 4 times.

I ate so many mosquitoes on TTD and MF this weekend, after a while I learned to live with it

It's pretty much an expected thing up there.. who gives a rip about bugs when you're dropping 300 feet at 80 degrees? ;)

To Railrider, my apologies for being a jerk a few days ago. Stressful times bring out the worst in me, and that has reared its ugly head a lot lately.

My best memory I would have to say would be spending a week with my family out of state. In my rush to get ahead in this life (and failure to do such) I forgot what was really important, and that trip has opened a door to finding my path in this life. I still have a lot of work to do, but at least I found a lifeline-and hopefully I will get it all together.

Hey,I'd love to swim in the Royal Fountains.

I've thought several times about jumping in there on a blistering hot day, but i don't have the nerve to do something that may get me ejected from the park.

There was one time when I went this summer, and it was in the low 90s with no clouds and no breeze. But alas, I didn't have my bikini with me, so no Boomerang Bay for me. :(

Yes my point why in the world would you do anything like that? If you want to take a swim don't do it in the Royal Fountians that just pure stupidity and really needs some since slapped into him! Thats what Boomerang Bay and Sponge Bob's Bikini Bottom Bash are for! Hes a freaking Idiot I hope they banned him for life...

Forgive me for not knowing, but what purpose does the light curtain around the Royal Fountain serve? I thought it was to shut down the fountains in case of an idiotic stunt like that, but in the pictures the fountains are still going so I am assuming I am wrong.

My favorite memories ...

Going down the first hill of The Beast with my best friend who was terrified of roller coasters, and had a death grip on my hand the whole way down. When we got off, she was all smiles and said "I'm not afraid of them anymore." We rode 6 more coasters that day. And Drop Tower!

Riding The Racer, red train, 8 times in a row without getting off on the first night of Halloween Haunt, even though my husband gave up on me after the 2nd lap.

Our random trip to Boomerang Bay one hot summer day when we wanted to go swimming but the YMCA didn't have any open swim hours. A last minute decision that ended with my first ride on Flight of Fear in 4 years.

The scarer that got my husband really really good just outside X-base!

The very last day of regular season, I went with two friends, one of which had never been to Kings Island before. We left the park for a late lunch (cause my pass would let us park for free again) and right as we left, it started POURING down rain. It stayed that way for about two hours, so we killed a bunch of time outside the park. When we got back, we walked on Son of Beast front car, but most of the rides didn't reopen. We ended up marathoning Flight of Fear for the last 2 hours.
