angimac
Very excited about going to KI!! Haven't been in about 5 years or so and first time with my 7 year old. It was also the first time going during Halloween time! Wow, the park certainly does a good job with transforming it. So, got there at 1pm. Great, no long lines. Vortex was awesome and best of all, my daughter went on it. After that, she was hooked on rollercoasters. Rode The Beast, sat by my daughter, looked at her during the ride and noticed she had her arms up!! Well, I can't let her show me up, after all, I'm the adult here. So, up went the arms. Noticed that my phone and gloves were missing after I got off the ride. Found the phone and 1 glove. Went to Nick U and Howl o Fest. That was cute. I was surprised that they had the Hanna Barbera people out, Yogi, Scooby, Thelma, Daphany, Dino, and Flinstones. I was thrilled by this (still think they should have the boat ride with the old characters in it before it was Smurfs). Anyways, I didn't see any newer characters. Rode more rides. Decided this was my last time on SOB. My back and head were killing me. Started getting dark, fog was coming out. Couldn't see a thing hardly, a little too thick I think. Also, there was this awful dead animal smell coming from around where the Scrambler is and the games around there. I don't know what exactly it was, it was gross!! Waited an hour for the Urgent Scare. Pretty scary for me. The actors really got into it! Even left with a little blood on me. My complaints... not many. On the Drop Zone, one of the workers was about as friendly as a kick in the butt. Kind of a downer. Did not care for the water in the Urgent Scare. Was freeeeeezing afterwards. Went on The Beast again when it was dark. That was the best ever!!!! The people working there were great! My daughter didn't put her hands up this time and I didn't lose anything either!! Great fun day all around!!!
Guest TombraiderTy
^I think you mean Velma instead of "Thelma" in the Howl-O-Fest section Did your daughter participate in Haunt? If so, what did she think? And the water in Urgent Scare, that is supposed to be mist, representing the chemicals that are supposed to cure you. The Interpreter
Nice report...and yes, I'm sure he meant Velma. Thelma is the woman who sells frozen lemonade in a lot of parks. A Gold Medal type of thing, but not. Gold Medal would be a Cinci connection! (Actually, though, Thelma's is a Slush Puppie brand!)
angimac
It's Velma and not Thelma? Oops I've been calling it wrong since I was 5 years old. My daughter loved the Haunt. We went with my 4 nieces and nephews, they loved it too!! I didn't get that the water in the Urgent Scare was supposed to be the cure. I was a little freaked out and at that point was most likely screaming. My husband said someone told us that in there, but I didn't hear them. It wasn't much of a mist. Still fun!! ^I think you mean Velma instead of "Thelma" in the Howl-O-Fest section Did your daughter participate in Haunt? If so, what did she think? AdventureExpresser
I too was at Kings Island on Saturday and have to say it was the best haunt experience we have had in all the years we have been going. When we got there went ahead and renewed the platinum passes for next year, this was the easiest this has ever gone, just paid and told me we would use the same card for next year, I loved it. Everyone wanted to try the Crypt first, so we get in line and hear mechanical difficulties, it is closed, and i am thinking "Oh please don't let this be this kind of day". So we head for Firehawk and the line is already halfway through the ques but they are still only running one train, had about an hour wait. Went to Vortex next, always a favorite in the backseat. Headed back and got on The Beast, NO WAIT. Went back to the Crypt and got on this time, I love what a wild ride they have turned this into, but would be even greater if they would play haunted music or sounds, and make the concrete floor look like a cemetary as they drag your head over it, that would make a great ride. Went to Action Zone next and did all the rides in this area, of course Drop Tower had mechanical difficulties but waited it out, Line for Delirium very long, even line for Son of Beast was an hour wait. I did notice it seemed it was taking alot longer than normal to get trains loaded and get them out of the station. Especially my second ride of the day on The Beast, All three trains were contiually lined up on the platform. My biggest complaint was that we had purchased tickets for the buffet at Wings, but the line for the buffet was so long, it took a very long time to get through it and when we finally did the manager was coming around and telling us our time was almost up and we would have to be leaving because the second seating was getting close, I got mad and told him for the money I paid we would stay and eat, that it was their fault for not having a better system to get people in there and accomodated. We did get in the front of the line for Urgent Scare, and I was glad the line was very long, I know not many people have had good things to say about it, but I thought it was really good, they gave me a good scare about 5 or 6 times, and I would rather have that than that Elvira Crap we have had for years. Went to the Massacre Manor next , line was clear back down past the Dodgem, but I thought they did a much better job in this one this year than last year. Went to the Trail next and this was the shortest line and we had the most fun on this one, we went as a large group this year and we had more fun scaring each other than what the workers were doing. Cornstalkers and the Construction site were fun but not as intense as what we had already experienced, did not do Club blood, because everyone was wanting to do Carnevil and time was running out, but the kids as well as I absolutely loved this one, we laughed as much as we screamed which made for a great time, the kids talked about this one all the way home. Of course The Beast was the last ride and we did this at 12:30am and was the best ride I have ever had on it, and I have rode it more times than I can count, but this ride will always be memorable, and my group was over half the train so made it a family ride to remember. Kudos Kings Island , you all did a wonderful job this year, and I noticed that the hecklers were not around this year, didn't matter to me if they had them or not, but I think someone made a pretty smart decision.
