Coney Islander
Ok................ I'm surprised they're selling Dante's Inferno. How do you move a building, and what's the point of buying halloween decorations.
CoastersRZ
Uh. No. Coney bought the River Runner from the failed Wild West World in Wichita, Kansas. The Scream Machine was bought brand new from the manufacturer, Moser`s Rides.
Coney Islander
If you look there is a listing for rides being sold from the failed Wild West World. It looks like they either kept the last ride they were having trouble selling or sold it.
jandyb79
Uh. No. Coney bought the River Runner from the failed Wild West World in Wichita, Kansas. When I visited old friends/executives at Coney this past summer they said that the businessman who "decided he wanted to get into the amusement business" purchased these rides (including the River Runner) and ran them 15 to 20 times before getting out of the business and selling the pieces off. Just another example of why you should stick with a product you know best and not dabble in areas of business that you are unfamiliar with. ~Josh
The Interpreter
That's an oversimplification, to put it mildly. There was a court ordered sale to raise proceeds to be applied to debts. The businessman did not choose to sell the pieces, the creditors got a judgment requiring their sale. And the rides operated for some time, not just 15-20 times...but certainly weeks, not years..the place was open for just over two months. CoastersRZ
Yep. The River Runner had only operated for a brief two months at Wild West World, before that park was closed, and its rides sold off. The future of that park is still undetermined. (As is the fate of another park that seems to have opened in one of the worst possible years).
