Beast1979
So you're wondering why I'm doing another. Well last week was planned to be the last trip but my Mom decided not to go to the Bengals game today (Who FINALLY got a Win!) so I got one more fix! We left the house at 1:30, err, 12:30 (Darn Time Change) and got to the Island at about 12:45. Just like last time the Gold Pass Parking was Packed and the guest parking was empty. Why? Don't ask me. But it seems it's for the best. I was dumbfounded by how HUGE Diamondback was. Literally towering over everything. Just like last week when we walked through security the man checking my mom's purse took forever searching everything. I told my mom that if they can't steel your purse the next best thing is to search it for a bomb. We entered and hooked left into Action Zone. Got an Invertigo walk-on across from 2 first time riders. That ride continues to surpass expectations being a Vekoma, but it still makes my feet hurt. Then we went on to Delerium. Why don't some people like this ride? It was amazingly fun swinging through the air, facing the sky and looking strait down. Walking through the 2 acres known as Oktoberfest we saw Viking Fury up and running again. And, along with it, the screaming contest. I wanted them to be quiet so they wouldn't disturb the skeletons fishing! I think those fisheys were hungrier then them. Onto Adventure Express. I love this ride so much. Why some people hate it I'll never know. Maybe it's the same deal as The Racer Haters. You gotta look in multiple dimensions and see the fun of it, and the ride's exelent theme was enhanced by the beautiful turning trees. By now you probably have a good idea of the route I'm taking. Into the "Coney Maul" and onto the Red Racer. I waited one train and got on in the middle row of some car. It yet again gave a smooth and airtime filled ride. I love this ride and I hope it lives double it's current life. Going into X-Base I had plans to devote for Firehawk but for some reason it was having difficulties and it closed as I walked up. No matter, Flight of Fear awaits. I'm not at all dissapointed with the theming job in that ride, well done and very appropriate. The soundtracks in the station are great. "You think YOU are Studying US? Then kindly explain why you're the ones, TRAPPED IN YOUR SEAT!" It cracks me up. They released the train and I prepared for a loud noise but it never came! In place, a gentle roar took appeared. I guess I'm just used to it! The Launch is definately the best part of the ride. In my honest opinion, it rivals that of Top Thrill Dragster. WHAT you say? Well, with Top Thrill Dragster as it is much more intense, Flight of Fear's is much more sudden and you fly through a pitch-black tunnel! If it wasn't for the fact that Top Thrill Dragster was 400 feet high Flight of Fear would be placed higher in my ranking. I skipped Vortex. I'm sorry Vortex fans but this has just become to much of a pain. The only reason I would shed a tear if this got removed was because it made for excellent photos. But if it were to be replaced by a mega B&M Floorless similar to that of Dominator then that tear would quickly be replaced with a giant grin. After leaving the Coney Mall it's into the Snakes Den. But this snake doesn't hide it's presence in the least bit! Diamondback stood tall, very tall, over us Davids. I hadn't felt this small since the Son of Beast walkback tour. The ride really is taking shape, it's completed lift hill dominating with absolute beauty and providing many images and daydreams of numerous future summer days spending all day riding over and over and over. But right as your grin reaches ear to ear you turn your head to the left and your heart does a Dow-Jones. The Beast's once promanant entrance plaza with trees providing shade and a sense of hiding for The Beast and signs boasting it's legendary history was reduced to nothing more then several piles of dirt. For me, seeing your baby in such a state just hurts on the inside. But, I keep hope and beared in mind that this was for the best. And those trees would likely be replanted anyway. Into The Beast's layer Ride Warrior Sir Jackson of Montgomery promanantly truged through, ready to face the terror of the creature known only as, The Beast. This was not Jackson's first encounter with this horror, in fact this would be his almost 350th time. He lost count. Jackson decided to take this monstrosity from an angle he rarely used, the last car. He ploped his body in the second row of the sixth car of the second train and they were off. I love how The Beast is designed, how it's themed, it's all beautifully put it together. The slow turn out of the station lures guests into false security and it's unnaturally slow chain gives you time to watch civilazation leave you behind. The pacing of the ride is fantastic and the helix fanally is amazing, especially in the right seat with the insane lateralls. I rode this baby twice in a row before moving on. Into the Crypt. I entered and walked in with no wait. I was surprised to see The Bat-creature still working after one week! So I waited. And Waited. And Waited. After 20 minutes of waiting I got angry. We all knew it was having technical difficulties but none of the ride operators told us anything. When we finally entered there were floodlights on and mantinence guys with flashlights. After a few seconds they turned the floodlights off and put the normal lights on. I was kinda scared to ride because I didn't want to get stuck upside-down! But we went through the ride as normal. After the Crypt we looped through Nick-U and found where everyone was! Then I went up in the ET. Then into Coney Maul and Red-Racer again, with no wait for any row except the front. Then into X-Base but both Firehawk and Flight of Fear had long waits. Into The Beast's layer for the last ride of the season. Two rides on The Beast is the best way possible to end the 2008 year. Walking out I stood infront of the Sign and looked at the Eiffel Tower, and waved goodbye. I'm gonna miss this year. So Long 2008! Thanks For Reading, Pictures coming soon. Kawana
Gotta sit in the Right side. Most Lats on the helix. So you enter first, eh? That's what I always do. Good for me, then.
Hank
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the word be lair instead of layer?
footballfreak
I went today and it was the best time I have ever had a ki. I rode beast 3 times,Vortex 2, fight deck 1, red racer 3, Firehawk 2, train 1, ET 1. I think thats it. It was awesome.
corn4ahead
yep....today was absolutely EMPTY!!!
raptor
Today was awesome, no crowds (gee, I love it when the Bengals are in town), I rode Flight of Fear 10 times, 7 times in the final hour even though I had a headache, The longest line I had was 10 minutes for back lot (I don't understand why it iis always among the largest lines, incredible), I even got to ride 4 rides in kiddie land, I rode The Beastie for the 1st time in about 25 years (I refuse to call this fairly odd coaster), Avitar, the suspended coaster and the haunted house, also the log flume, I never miss a chance to ride this when that stupid elephant is turned off, one of the few rides that I rode as a kid that remains. I get so used to these uncrowded October Sundays, that I get spoiled and it is very difficult to enjoy going to Kings Island when the next season starts and I actually have to weight in lines. StalkerChick
Wait Jackson you were on the last ride of The Beast?! Like the litera last ride or before the ACEers took over?

Beast1979
Pictures: Where is Everyone? Loopage Baby. Why do some people not like this? Who knows. Pic taken by Trooper Mom. Fury of the Viking Style. I love The Racer. Pic taken by Trooper Mom. I'm really trying hard to take really good photos. Let's take a trip to Fort Kinzel and Hanger 18! If they put FoF type lapbars on The Vortex then it'd be worth keeping. You ever felt like a real David against a real Goliath? No? Well head on over to Rivertown and that'll change. Moment of Silence. My Dear Baby. Pic Taken by Trooper Mom. Boy Howdy I can't wait. The Most Theming in the entire ride nowadays. As you Can see lines were enormous today. Almost like your future child's limbs laying on the ground. Every Dog has his day, and every Photographer has that ONE Picture. Adena Was Here. There was a Plant Here..... *shivers in anticipation*
The Interpreter
Your FOF bars on Vortex idea may be a good one. See what Kennywood and Chance Morgan did to Steel Phantom's Arrow trains? http://cache.rcdb.com/pictures/picmax/p9473.jpg Was: http://cache.rcdb.com/pictures/picmax/p5438.jpg
Beast1979
More: It ain't happening.... Cool Dude. Ok, maybe some photographers have two, but I'd like to have more then that. Beautiful Centerpiece. You hit 'em at just the right angle and B&Ms are just so amazing. A-Zone. C-Mall. V-Tex. The one, the Only, Diamondback. This is what'll make B&M Hypers Legendary. The people won't be there come next year..... I love Kings Island in so many ways it's not funny. KI's TTD. Trooper Mom's Gotta Eat. 3rd Best Ride at Kings Island. This one's for FOFreak. Goodbye Kings Island! That's All!

See what Kennywood and Chance Morgan did to Steel Phantom's Arrow trains? http://cache.rcdb.com/pictures/picmax/p9473.jpg Was: http://cache.rcdb.com/pictures/picmax/p5438.jpg Boy I wish they would. I love Vortex, great ride and even wonderful just to look at, a real piece of art, but the over the shoulder restraints kill me being 6'2". Even though it's a must ride for me everytime I'm there, it hurts me more then SOB anyday.
kiruler102
if they did do that then i think they must ass the seatbelt on the side like on FOF to help keep you in since your going through 6 inversions.
The Interpreter
Schwarzkopf coasters did inversions years and years ago without benefit of seatbelts, and do so to this day. See, for instance, Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia....
BavarianBeatle
Wait Jackson you were on the last ride of The Beast?! Like the litera last ride or before the ACEers took over? We were on that train before they loaded the last train before the ACEers..... So I guess there were technically three trains left when we finished our last ride.... gigacoaster2k
I rode TTD 5 times Sunday, once in the very front, and trust me I'd take TTD's launch over FOF's launch any day. It feels like you are being pulled inside out. I LOVE DRAGSTER!! By the way, the drop is 400 feet, but the coaster itself is 420 feet high. Glad to hear you had a great last day at KI, I already miss the place. Six months with no Drop Tower. I am not looking forward to the withdrawal symptoms. Coney Islander
Cheers! I never realized how highly themed Viking's Feury is,
Beast1979
I am not looking forward to the withdrawal symptoms. Ahhh, the withdrawl symptoms. Bad times, Bad times....... Jackson, who remembers several Mid-April Days In the fettle position.......
The Interpreter
What position would that be? Were you in fine fettle? A fettle position is, to quote Merriam-Webster: state or condition of health, fitness, wholeness, spirit, or form —often used in the phrase in fine fettle I think you meant a fetal position, as in curled up in a ball with your thighs drawn up to your chest.... tigellinus
Hey Jackson, I saw you Sunday!! At Invertigo, you were sitting near the front (I wanted to go over and say hello, but I was riding near the back). Was that "Trooper Mom" and your little sister riding across from you?? Anyway, Sunday was absolutely a great day for KI!! And btw, I took your suggestion and tried some different ride seats, and front seat-red train on SOB really is VERY smooth!! (smoother than blue front seat). So that's definitely where my dad is riding next year, and thanks for the advice on that. However, front seat on Flight Deck was fine, but not nearly as thrilling as the back seat. Also, I was very impressed to actually see good operations on both Invertigo and Delirium Sunday AND seeing the coasters run all their trains when they easily didn't have to was awesome, so thanks KI for that!! Can't wait for next year with D-back, which difinitely towers with it's height!! It will be sweet...let the ride counts begin!!
Beast1979
No, those people across me weren't related to me. Trooper Mom was wearing a pink shirt that day. I have ridden in the front back and middle of practically ever coaster at KI. I really don't get the big deal about the back seat on Flight Deck. Sure, more rapid-fire twists, but you have no clue of where your going. And, it's rough.
TOPGUN1993
TOPGUN rough.... oh please
Beast1979
I mean the headbanging back there is a bit bad.
The Interpreter
Head banging? On Flight Deck? In what park? Sheesh....
Beast1979
So I am the only one who feels the rapid fire head banging back there?
The Interpreter
I despise coasters that headbang. See, for instance, Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia. Once upon a time, I had to learn to ride defensively on Outer Limits: Flight of Fear, back when it had OTSR's. I can honestly say I do not remember ever banging my head, even once, on Top Gun aka Flight Deck. And I used to ride the next to last row almost exclusively, before I got smart and moved to the front seat. More action up there, in my opinion, though...not less.
Beast1979
Wow. So why do only I feel that? I dunno. Either way Front seat is better.
