Kawana
Wow. Captain Nemo was telling me about Dollywood, and after seeing this, I just might be able to convince my girlfriend to take a little trip with me down there next year. Thunderhead looks amazing, are the trains roomy, say for a bigger guy? Thanks for the great TR.
The Interpreter
The TRAINS are roomy...the restraints are, however, very forgiving until the very point where they are not. If you have a 40" waist or above, you either are not going to fit or it is going to be very, very tight. I am using waist size as a proxy for hip size. That really is the determining factor. You could have a 34 inch waist and body builder's thighs and not fit. You'd have to be what many call ripped, but it would be possible, though not likely. tigellinus
^^Lightning Racer's T-bar's seemed almost broken to the point where there was very little "ratch" to them...thankfully everytime I've been on LR the op was very cool with a loose ratchet as it was either that or the bar sitting right on your lap, it seemed! But it definitely felt like riding on a love seat/sofa with a seat belt and nothing else in front of you!!
Beast1979
Finally checked out your PTR with the Photo's!! Haha! But anyway...awesome PTR! Even though MM was a bust, getting multiple's on TT, TH, and BF in a short amount of time was still an overall success...you'll get MM one day, and personally, while I think it's a fun ride, it's definitely not an enthusiast "MUST" like S:ROS, X2, Voyage, etc. I look forward to possibly going to this event again next year, this year that day was extremely low average temps next year it should be warmer so I should hit that one. I also have never ridden a ride like MM so that credit looked pretty handsome to me. Btw, did Trooper Mom go to Purdue? My long time on-off girlfriend went there! She did go to Perdue. Way back in the day she got her Bachlors degree there. and will Trooper Mom ever ride anything?? I can't imagine during all those dozens of D-back quickie trips on lazy Sunday's in June or carefree Wednesday nights in July to KI next year that just Troop'ing with NO riding is going to be a legitimate strategy!?! Way way way back in the days of when she was a teen she loved these rides, but now not so much. She says that after she had kids she's done, and she says it was appropriate she rode her last coaster as Cindy Brady. Wow. Thunderhead looks amazing, are the trains roomy, say for a bigger guy? Thanks for the great TR. The Trains are quite roomy, but the restraints are odd. I would loose some wieght so I could ride it, it was a truely great ride. And Dollywood itself is amazing, even non enthusiasts would be charmed by it because it is hardly a park! But it definitely felt like riding on a love seat/sofa with a seat belt and nothing else in front of you!! I tried to ride in the front seat because it does feel very free, the speed and turns with the open trains is amazing.

I actually meant for taller people, but I guess that applies. It shouldn't be as tight a fit as MF or TTD though, right?
Beast1979
Oh heavens no MF is worse then TH by far.
Kawana
Oh heavens no MF is worse then TH by far. Well, I wrangled myself onto MF, so if need be, I could do the same for Thunderhead.
Beast1979
For Sure Yes, Thunderhead has much more open seats while MF has bucket type seats or boxy seats.
tigellinus
^^...and while D-back will have Barcalounger/recliners for seats!!
violakat03
Great photos - of both the park and the mountains! You capture the essence of the Smokies in some of those shots, and the exact reason my husband and I got married about 30 minutes south of Dollywood. We stayed in a cabin too, but it was a free-standing one, and you want to talk about a treacherous drive ... one lane in and out for about 3 miles, on the side of a mountain with no where to go but reverse if a car is coming from the opposite direction!
