January 14, 200917 yr With spring right around the corner and Kings Island opening day nearing,it's time for me to get in shape. Near the end of last season,The Beast was a bit tight on me but i was able to ride,so my goal is to be able to fit on all my favorites this season.Im also looking forward to Cedar Point this year and i know i have to really trim down to ride there. AS of today i have dropped 12 pounds from 280 to 268. My goal is to lose 108 more pounds i know this will take time but if i can trim down to 225 to 235 Cedar Point should be no problem for me. Stay tune for more updates. hurry up Diamondback
January 14, 200917 yr Best of luck! Congratulations on your success so far! Weight loss sometimes requires 'incentives' that help in reaching our personal goals, and the anticipation of riding our favorite coasters is an excellent motivation! (I know, it helped me greatly!) Keep us posted!
January 14, 200917 yr Good luck, and keep up the good work and fight!! If you ever make it out to Great Adventure or SF New England, you'll need to be as slim as possible for enjoyable El Toro and soon to be Superman: Ride of Steel rides (whose new 09 trains will feature Toro's restraint system) And remember that above all else, cardio and diet are the biggest keys (IMO) with weight loss...and you only even need just a little of both to make a lot of progress!
January 14, 200917 yr Actually, I have found that many people can ride El Toro who do not fit Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. Ditto for Kingda Ka...people fit it who cannot fit TTD. It can be done. Terpy, who once was a much more substantial man...(and who once didn't fit Superman: Ultimate Flight at SFOG, V2 at SFGAm or Wicked Twister at CP...)
January 15, 200917 yr ^^Ka is no Toro in the restraints...however, and either way, note I said enjoyable ET ride as getting "stomach-burn" (as opposed to rug burn), ripping your shirt, or not fully breathing or exhaling is no way to face the Bull!!
January 15, 200917 yr I wouldn't know...by the time El Toro opened, I was a much lesser man than in the days of Viper and Evolution.
January 15, 200917 yr ^^Btw, Terpy, I mean, what was your thought when you learned ET was being built right after Kingda Ka and S:UF?? Did you think, forget Girls Gone Wild, this is spending gone wild!?!
January 15, 200917 yr And what makes you think THAT was when I learned that a large wooden coaster was being built there? Terpy, who's almost said too much again
January 15, 200917 yr ^^I bet you were laughing when everyone was becoming Agent Mulder analyzing the "big white space" on the KK rendering and the wood coaster shirts in the gift shop!
January 15, 200917 yr I laugh at a lot of things...like dive coasters in river towns, so called unsuccessful parks on fairgrounds in nearby states, etc. I just hope we have a lot to laugh about in future years. There is very little room for error for the industry in the coming perilous years, given the economy and current debt levels for many of the players.
January 15, 200917 yr And what makes you think THAT was when I learned that a large wooden coaster was being built there? Terpy, who's almost said too much again C'mon Terpy just play along, give the kids what they want! haha
January 15, 200917 yr Fine, Cory....this is what was going to happen, and it really is no great secret. I almost wish the Story story had lasted just a wee bit longer inn Jackson: ...We have an amazing amusement park and not a hotel! I think we should have a hotel because I think if we had a hotel and a really big and fun amusement park, we could really attract people into the township. So, that is why I think we can use more businesses in Jackson. http://tritown.gmnews.com/news/2009/0115/letters/035.html
January 15, 200917 yr Author Thank you for all your support. I love cardio and will be doing more of it. Im wondering what kind of restrictions they will have for diamond and the new seats? I really want to ride it as soon as it opens.
January 15, 200917 yr How tall are you? For a typical 5' 10" male, Apollo's Chariot, Raging Bull, Nitro and Goliath are ridable up to about 275...though not necessarily comfortably so...
January 15, 200917 yr The only people I've seen turned down on a B&M hyper are legitimately very, very large people!! I think I can recount the number on a single hand out of near 150 different rides.
January 15, 200917 yr Author currently 5-6 266 lbs most of my weight is in the mid section. my upper body has very little fat thank God. At this weight i was able to ride the FOF,Vortex,Sob and Invertigo with no problem. The Beast gave me a hard time trying to get two clicks. It was a very tight ride.
January 15, 200917 yr ^^You'll be totally fine on D-back then...if you can make Vortex then D-back is a guarantee.
January 15, 200917 yr Congrats on the already significant loss. Double digits is nothing to sneeze at! Just take it slow and remember that you didn't gain all of it in two months, so you won't lose it all that fast either! It's taken me about a year and a half to drop 20 lbs but I've done it and I'm dropping more each month. I'm hoping that with less weight on me, the coaster blackout (which I NEVER experienced before this past summer) will go away and the wooden coasters won't feel as rough. When you're squeezed tight into the seats (my hips barely fit in The Beast - I can get the lapbar down without a problem though, I'm just built wide!) things are a lot more uncomfortable and seem rougher than they really are. My goal for this season is to get into The Beast without having to do any wiggling to get comfortable.
January 16, 200917 yr Good Luck!. I was in the same boat. I'm 5'8' and was up to 268 Xmas of '07. Had some sugar issues( a big scare since diabetes runs in the family). Last year I lost 65lbs just by changing my diet and getting to the gym. I feel a lot better, and plan to be at 170 by the end of 09. I can't wait till I can get on a roller coaster this year. Unfortunately it probably will be at CP instead of KI. Don't have much time or money this year for both, so the GF and I are traveling up north to CP for our yearly amusement park fix. This will be my first trip to CP. I can ride DB next, this year I get to experiance MF for the first time.
January 17, 200917 yr ^^Waiting until next year (2010!?) to ride Diamondback!?!?!?! See...this guy proves how spoiled the rest of us are!!
January 21, 200917 yr Author Down to 264.5 Im really feeling great now. Walking much more now.Not that i had a problem walking as much as i did eating.
January 22, 200917 yr I am 6'2 295lbs, and 42in waist. I usually dont wear jeans to park, but gym shorts and or swim trucks (like I always did even at lower weights to to comfort) but I can fit on everything at KI in 2008, those PTC trains are tight on the hips, but legroom too. Millenium force I fit in 2007 with help from a buddy pulling seatbelt for me, TTD I can fit fine, and get myself. For some reason Wicked Twister gave me hell in 2008. I was not able to ride. I am on a 12 week program to lose some Lbs.. no real goal. I know I can fit on everything just fine at 279-280s. I am not all fat, I have a lot of muscle, but also just a big frame.
January 23, 200917 yr Author My goal is to get back in shape and my bonus from all this is to enjoy every ride without discomfort. Like that breathing room.
February 4, 200917 yr Author Yeah it's feburary 4th and getting closer to opening day. I dropped a few more pounds so now im down to 255 lbs and im feeling great. I will be making a trip to Kings Island opening day and i will be heading to calf in may so i will get to go to knotts berry farm as well.Anybody been there yet?
February 4, 200917 yr Wow, 25 lbs! Congrats!!! Hopefully I'll see you there on opening day sliding into those seats with plenty of room to spare!
February 4, 200917 yr Congratulations! Knott's Berry Farm has some incredible rides. Don't forget how close you will be the to the Disneyland Resort! Magic Mountain is also not that far away.
February 4, 200917 yr Congrats Pikeman! Not to hijack your topic, but one of the gifts I got for Christmas was a new scale (we've been saying we needed a better one for years). I finally got it out and used it for the first time Sunday...and let's just say I was not happy with what I saw...it was the heaviest I've ever been. Fortunately not "season premiere of The Biggest Loser" heavy , but there was a mark I never wanted to go above, and I was above it. Looking at myself in the pictures of the KIC event also reaffirmed that something needs to be done. (Why is it that I always think of myself as skinnier than what I actually am?) Since then, I've put myself on a strict diet, and will be upping my efforts at the gym (which I have let slide recently). Let the weight loss begin (again)!
February 4, 200917 yr ...it was the heaviest I've ever been. Fortunately not "season premiere of The Biggest Loser" heavy , but there was a mark I never wanted to go above, and I was above it. Can I guess this number??
February 4, 200917 yr You can guess, but I'm not sayin'... unless there's a prize involved. Is this the Age & Weight game? Ooo...post #666...the mark of !!!!!!!
February 4, 200917 yr Author Congratulations! Knott's Berry Farm has some incredible rides. Don't forget how close you will be the to the Disneyland Resort! Magic Mountain is also not that far away.Thank you. Yep magic mountain is a fun place.been there before.I cant wait to ride viper.I cant remember the stats so im not sure how viper compares to Vortex but both are still great rides. And yes i got to try i think it's called tower of terror at disneyland.
