One of the lowest admission prices in the USA, a parking garage (!) built for the baseball team beside the park, Leap the Dips--now run by the park, last I heard. And DelGrosso's so close by...... I must admit I spent most of my time in the backseat of the Skyliner, where the air is still experienced the way it's supposed to be. Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Oh, Leap-The-Dips is operating when the park is open...but originally after it re-opened, it was a three dollar (I think) upcharge, and run by a foundation, not the park. During a later visit, it was run by the park and included in the pay-one-price...which meant a much longer wait when the park is busy, of course. Quote

raptor Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 I plan on going to Lakemont and Delgrosso's for the first time this summer, and though I'm looking forward to both for different reasons, I'm most excited about Lakemont, they look like they more exciting stuff such as skyliner, twister, and quite a nice collection of old rides, however I am very excited about going to DelGrosso's and riding The Kings Island Wheel of Fortune for the first time in over 20 years Quote

Last time I went to Delgrosso's (2007 season), there wasn't that much to do, and even though we got there a few hours after opening, the place was dead. Lakemont has a better coaster, but that might change if Delgrosso's ever remembers to rebuild a certain coaster... Quote
XGatorHead 8904 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Wow... when I was making my list of parks for our possible "Parks of PA" tour this summer, I completely forgot Lakemont! This park is a must just for Leap the Dips. I've heard of Delgrosso's before but don't know too much about it. From their map it looks like you can do everything in a couple of hours. Of course, I thought the same about Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk... boy was I wrong there. We spent much more time at SCBB than I had planned, not because of lines, but because of the greatness of that little park. Quote

Leap the Dips is great just for historical reasons, but the real gem of the park is the Skyliner. Ride from the back seat. There is just a buzz bar with no seat belt, and the airtime on the first drop is wicked...not to mention the following two or three hills. Quote

Allen", and now I find out it's buzz bars and no seat belts! I am soooo at Lakemont if we do our "Parks of PA" tour! Gator, dreaming back to the days of Racer and Beast with buzz bars... Quote
