Offseason Blues PTR

Let me start by saying thank you to the KIC staff. Thank you for thinking of us and putting this together, and thank you for running or operating this site.

Since I've been a little slow in writing/producing this PTR, I'll save you all from seeing photos from other TRs and try to show my unique "talents." Plus, I really didn't take that many photos in all actuality. (much to my surprise)

Elina and I arrived at the lodge at around 2:40 or so and finally found a parking spot at aroud 2:50. Man were they busy!!!

Once we enter, I see Beast1979 snapping away with his camera probably up to shot 200 or so. :) I stride over and see Gator and I tell him how much I loved his Beach TR. I then see Gordon Bombay, and we check in. After he brands us KICers, we're escorted to the conference center where everyone else is waiting. We're split up, and I'm in the group with the GWL staffer in the pink shirt. Somewhere after the first room, I believe the groups melded together and formed new supergroups because our group ended up with a different guide.

Eventually we make our way to the waterpark portion of the lodge. I must say that I felt a little wierd staring through that glass as if the guests in the waterpark were test subjects or something. We were shown the "water rollercoaster"DSC_2611.jpg

and we got to ask questions and generally observe the area. I kept waiting for this bucket to dump but I never got to see it. DSC_2614.jpg

I decided to move my giant self from the front of the group so everyone else could see the waterpark which was appreciated by at least one person. Somehow our group missed the arcade portion but I would have just been distracted anyway. I did like the names of their restaurants, especially this one. DSC_2617.jpg

I obviously took this picture, but for the life of me I can't remember where it was located. I must have thought it was neat, right? DSC_2620.jpg

After what seems like 15-20 minutes, the collective group is ready to make the walk over to the International Restaurant. I'll say this, the walk was a little tenuous, but nothing that the previous week hadn't prepared me for. DSC_2623.jpg

KI looked very peaceful covered in the snow, almost like a totally different place. DSC_2626.jpg

Jasper this one's for you.

DSC_2624.jpg

Our group was very large as you can seeDSC_2631.jpg

and we made our way up to the restaurant, stopping by admissions, of course.DSC_2635.jpg

I'll admit that taking off my shoes was a wierd feeling, but we were all in it together.DSC_2637.jpg

After eating and a little help from AvatarDSC_2642.jpg

it was time for the guest speakers to, well speak.

I thourougly enjoyed each presentation, big thanks to Nick Licastro, Robbie Zerhusen, and Don Helbig for taking time to speak to us about the park.

After the trivia was concluded (with Don's seemingly impossible answers, I still think the length of the first hill is 5282 feet) it was time to say goodbye to the park.

To all those I met, it was a blast to finally meet you, and if I didn't get to introduce myself, I apologize for perhaps we'll meet again at another KIC event. I know it's shorter than my usual fare but thanks for reading, I know it's not the special one I had planned, but that one will be coming soon after opening day.

Kawana - It was good to met you Saturday. I have had to read these trip reports in secret at home, if my wife sees one of those pictures of me serving fellow members she may realize I can help out more around the house. Anyway nice trip report I enjoyed it.

Chase, will you be posting a PTR? Did you even bring your camera?

I'm embarassed to say, I actually didn't bring my camera. I ran out of my house at the last second and didn't realize I forgot it til I got to Hamilton.

Now, the 21st, expect to see me in picture mode.

I am however, working on a special PTR treat. I'm in St. Thomas right now with my camera and unlimited warm weather and sunshine. I'll post back later this week when I get home.

That sounds familiar. I've done that quite a few times! One of them was last season for Six Flags St. Louis, and it is the only park that was new to me that isn't pictured on the "new parks of 2008" bulletin board that I made in January for the new year.

I wish that I could post PTR's effectively, but I haven't had time to play with Image Shack to get the pictures to post the way I want them. It also takes forever for each picture to upload on snail-up.

Nice trip report...I especially like your shot of everyone in their socks...I missed taking that one! (That's what I like about everyone doing a TR...between us all I think we have everything covered.)

Thanks, that one was one that I wanted to get from the day I learned of us all being in our socks, just too weird to pass up.

Love the pictures. Thanks for the trip report lets me feel as though I was there.. .I didnt get to make it

I agree with standbyme, through everyone's PTRs, someone who wasn't there, can pretty much feel like they were. Glad I could help.

Nice TR and pictures Kawana. I'm disappointed that you were there and I never got to meet you. Ah, it's okay. We have more opportunities.

By the way, you captured a hungry iChase vege-tizing his sub in your picture of the food and Avatar.

iChase, the funny part was that through your other picture posts, I knew what you looked like, but I should have introduced myself anyway. I'll make it a point to on the 21st.
