February 24, 200917 yr . . .Great Wolf said current and expected market and economic conditions will also force it to take an impairment charge totaling $17 million on its 281-room resort in Kansas City, Kan., and its 401-room resort in Mason, Ohio. Last month, Great Wolf negotiated another loan extension for its Mason resort. The company initially faced a Nov. 30, 2008, maturity date for its $76.8 million mortgage loan but after two short-term extensions, Great Wolf now has until Nov. 30, 2009, to pay off the loan. . . . http://www.madison.com/tct/news/stories/439930
February 24, 200917 yr Just like Cedar Fair, Wolf and many other companies are taking impairment charges right now because of the economy. Heard on 700wlw, that between Wolf, 5/3, Macys, Scripts, and another Cincy company that currently escapes me, they have combined to take over 1 Billion in Impairment charges for the year. It is a very hard time for everyone currently.
February 24, 200917 yr Yeah, Impairment charge has become the flavor of the month....er...year if you will. So many companies are taking them, and it becomes hard to tell who the stronger companies are. On the other hand it is necessary to temper what the information actually says about a particular company since so many companies are declaring impairment charges.
