The Interpreter
No quote for this one, it deserves your consideration: http://www.fool.com/investing/dividends-in...cedar-fair.aspx
Racerrider
well I dont agree with what they're saying about how Cedar Fair is in the same boat as Six Flags financialy...they aren't planning on putting 3 more coasters in KI for 2009 now are they? The Interpreter
No, but they did go on a very similar park buying spree, then cut way back on capital investment other than for big thrill rides, while letting long time middle managers go left and right... 74Gibson
I've often wondered how long CF could get away with building so many huge coasters...espiecally at CP. I love em' for it don't get me wrong but I think Terpy is right. At least for know the economy has put an end to the coaster wars. This specualtive market makes me so much more curious about CP recent land clearing. Will the new addition be a sign of things to come? I believe park atttendance will be up this year but will profits? I still feel like we're lucky to get DB. Will there be new monster coaster buiult over the next couple of years. Sorry, I'll step back from the edge of despair now
Captain Picard
The problem most here don't understand is it's not new coasters and attendance. It's their debt they have to find away out of it and as of now they don't seem to have it. They can stop new coaster installs and have record attendance and it will not fix it. The Interpreter
And to some extent it is a Catch-22....if they stop new coaster installs, they will not have record attendance. If they stop capital expenditures, people will slowly stop coming.
