I dont remember the first ride...my memories are spotty, but enchanted voyage was a favorite. I rode that clear up until I graduated. Bavarian beetle, rotor and tumble bug as well. The first big ride was probably racer...been hooked ever since. I never got to ride skylab, or phantom theatre-they were installed and gone before I returned from the west coast.

I remember when I was little going on a cool summer night, getting the blue ice cream in "Kiddy Land" (what I used to call it) and riding Taxi Jam over and over again. And I remember my dad having to help me with my ice cream because it would melt everywhere. The Maestro in the line for Phantom Theater also scared me because I thought he was real and I would always hide behind my mom from him. I remember my mom's friend betting me that I couldn't hold my hands up the hold time on The Beastie (I won that bet).

I remember climbing all those d@mn stairs to ride the screamin demon over and over. Just thought that was the coolest ride ever as a kid. Being launched into that drop into the loop and thinking I would just fly out of the seat. Remember staring at The Bat in awe and wondering why I never saw it run. Then coming back to find it gone and this big board up advertising the plans for Vortex. Just stared at the layout, thinking oh hell yes, this will be the greatest thing ever!!

I remember when the roller coaster choices were: Beast, Racer, Screamin Demon, and Beastie. That was all of them and you can imagine the lines (Racer lines with full queue and out into Coney Mall, Beast lines with all switchbacks open and out past the bubble gum tree).

I also totally enjoyed the following rides (forgive me for forgetting the correct names) as a kid: Rotor, Flying Eagles, KCKC, BayernCurve, and the Big Slide, but don't remember when they came or went. No trip was complete without a monorail ride through the Safari or a ride in the parking lot shuttle back in the day.

The best part of King Cobra was the little bunny hops and when the track angled just slightly to the Left.

I used to remember hiking all over Kings Island before it was even thought of and the only "racer" that I encountered was colored "black" and scared the heck out of me! But my last experience with that Shooten Star along the river in the fall of '71 made be giddy for the "Racer" being built in my old hiking grounds. It was just fun feeling the rush of the wind in my face while droping down that hill on that grand 'ole' lady just gave my shivers. They might make them so high as to touch the stars, but nothing compares to The Racer, that grand ole lady on the mall. The only thing missing is the music from the roaring twenty's! Bring back the good old days.
