Woman In Critical Condition; Injured On Hurricane at IX Center

Featured Replies

...Amusement park officials say, Linda got on a popular ride called the "Hurricane", then changed her mind.

"The kids wanted to go on the ride, so Linda went with the kids on the ride, she did say something, she waved, 'hold on, don't start the ride' and she got off the ride and the ride started, and she got hit by the second car and got run over," recalled Renee, who did not want to give her last name.

"The operator was about to stop the ride, put the ride down and the other operator said don't do that because it's gonna run her over, so the ride was going up in the air, about 10 minutes around in circles, so they could get Linda off the ground," she added.

Eric German, executive show director for the I-X Indoor Amusement Park, says for some reason the operator did not realize Hardy had not left the platform. Paramedics already on duty treated her at the scene before she was taken to the hospital....

Poor operation of the ride by the operator. It is absolutely imperative that you check the ride area before starting a ride, no matter the consequences, but kudos at the same time because the quick thinking saved a life.
