tigellinus
It's literally hours now until the first ride, but I wanted to create this so I could post my very first quick reaction and impression after riding tomorrow! I'm definitely getting crazy excited!! Anyone who's ridden yet wanna post what they thought and what seat they rode in?
PREMiERdrum
Having gotten in 9 rides yesterday at Media Day, it exceeded all of my expectations. The speed was awesome, especially after things warmed up in the afternoon. The layout and pacing are exceptional, and the overall look of the area is PERFECT. The P&D crew did an amazing job freshening up Rivertown without ruining it. You really have to see it to believe it. Also, the timeshare sales shack over across from LaRosa's has been turned into a satellite Diamondback shop, which is super smart, considering it's right by the splashdown. Zorba
I got in the line by that new shop this morning. The line from there was only 2 hours and ten minutes, they told me it would be 4.5 when I got in line.
CoasterFreak45
I loved it. I could use so many more words, but that suffices.
Zorba
Also a word of caution, I think the way the seats are designed it can push stuff out of your pockets. The guy in front of me lost his phone and some change on the lift hill. I was able to save his phone, but the change went bye-bye. I noticed by the end of the ride my phone had also worked its way to the top of my pocket. So be sure you put that stuff in the bins. Roarbot
Inline at splashdown at 9:15...Got off and got my shirt by 11:30...New Diamondback refill cups are cool...ride was so smooth and fast, incredible...Beast line 45 min, had to leave after that. TopThrill
I enjoyed it very much, the front seat feels like a dream just floating going over those hills. You put your feet out in front of you, and its just amazing!!!! Diamondback is truly the new bad boy in town!!! Just look at that line it drew today. Zorba
Is the not letting you pick your own seat thing going to go away at some point? At least when I rode they told every person what row to go to, etc.
TopThrill
The only time I see them doing away with that is on the days there isn't much of a line. I think I speeds things up when they try to par up single riders, and so on.
Beast1979
I need but one word to describe it all. Perfect.
Zorba
There are ways of during single riders without assigning seats. Also I noticed lots of empty rows today, which is weird when they were assigning seats. I like being able to pick my own seat.
SOBFOF
I loved it! It combined all basic coaster need: height, speed, airtime, smoothness, and so much more. The seats were very comfy as well.
frisbeefan
I got in line at 9:20 around the carousel and got off the ride around 11:30 which is pretty darn good considering. Line moves fast and, by the way, the ride was awesome too!

Hank
I'll get hate replies for this, but it looks like just another big coaster to me. I'm the kind of person who's looking outside of the box and this machine looks like it's still within the box. It may be good for KI, but couldn't some kind of elements have been put in along the way to make it special?

Skywriter
Skywriter took walk of shame today not b.c of my gut it was because of my thighs which are muscular from football not fat. Many people would get in the test seat and there thighs would be too big. So i was pretty much let down today. Diamondback is the only roller coaster I cannot ride in the park I mean I have even ridden MF and TTD which I'm confused why I did not fit on DB I know it was b.c of my leg darn football lifting. I would have to agree DB really is not too special it's just tall.
mrsteele
Did they not put seats in just for larger people like they do on some of their coasters? If not thats just a darn shame that they didn't put in the extra effort to accommadate everyone.
raptor
Kind of surreal, kind of strange, I honestly forgot I was at Kings Island when the ride ended, I was thinking I was at Cedar Point (Just for a moment) - and I was like oh yeah, this is Kings Island, awesome. Now if there was only an East of Chicago Pizza near by

tigellinus
In line for D-back now, and I'm still hoping to get in a few more rides tonight! The Single Rider line rocks, and I hope they continue it! Having said that, I'm sorry, but the seat assigning is incredibly lame!! Just pulse the line at the top of the stairs! Behemoth assigned seats through May, and I hope KI doesn't do it for that long...while it's true people want the front row or maybe back first, it's also true if they see a long wait for the front, but no wait for Row 7, most will go for Row 7!...especially GP'ers! As for the ride, it completely delivers, period, and the afternoon rides were way better than the morning and I can only imagine how these night rides will be! Other notes, the 3rd hill is the gem, no doubt! The 5th hill trim is sadly used, but not bad at all as with the MCBR, and I've gotten very wet from the Splashdown on all 3 of my last row rides! Wait a minute! You havn't even ridden this thing yet! You have no room to talk! I think you might just be saying that because you couldn't ride. Yeah I know I did try the test seat and the light turned from red to a flickering Green and the nice man said I should fit. Yeah that comment came from me venting a little I mean I was at the park at 6:44 and I got in the DB que line at 9:15 with the Gold Pass ERT and trust me I will get my DB ride in sometime this year I will have to figure out how to somehow reshape my muscle in my leg or tone it a little better so I fit. Sorry Skywriter. Pity, it's such a shame to wait for hours just to be let down. You did try the test seat though, right? I was also turned down for the same reason. They did a smart thing with the test seat by moving it outside of the main queue so that you could just walk up to it without waiting in line. There were two attendants there when I went and they would shove as hard as they could on the restraint to try to accommodate everyone on the ride if they could manage a way to do it. Alas, it's not to be for everyone.
Hank
I don't fit on ANY darn B&M coaster. Funny, but I do fit on all of the kiddie rides. And the people in this country are all getting "larger" according to news reports. If no one is gonna fit on these multi-million dollar machines, they're not gonna patronize the park - and that's just one of the reasons not to visit. By the by - Intamin is getting a bit stingy with room lately too! Reminds me of when imported clothing first came on the scene - the people in Japan made the arms too short and the tails too long, not taking American measurements into consideration. Skywriter
Yeah I totally agree,America is getting bigger and ride restrains are getting smaller. I mean I even took The Beast for a spin and had no problems.
tigellinus
I forgot to add I got wet on the Splashdown without trying...at all!! Also, there are still some kinks with ride operations like way too many W.O.S.'s (seeing one on almost every train I've been on!), ineffective seat assigning (seen LOTS of empty entire rows due to a row not being assigned when a train is ready to load!! ), and a lot of people getting on from the exit on almost every train too (VIP's, whoever). There's definitely too much train stacking, but that stuff should get better with time and D-back will be as blazing fast as Behemoth, which that line never stopped moving! Also, as far as D-back not being outside of the box, inside of it is what's in right now in the industry, and on opening day D-back's never stopped running once, the cheers and applause are deafening after each ride, and I just traversed the entire main queue in 30 minutes! Sounds pretty good to me! Update: despite the seat assigning, I successfully begged my way to a front row, which was AWESOME!! I might like that more than the back row!?
