Fear the Four
I was at the park early enough for ERT and they had all three trains running and I came back around 11:30 without the red train on the track then they put it back on and i kid next to me asked the ride operator why they have taken it off the tracks and he said one of the wheels broke then like 10-15 people gave him a funny look but then he said it is a very small chance of that happening. The Interpreter
Wheels are frequently replaced on most steel coasters. Ride operators are normally instructed not to go into great detail about what is wrong with a ride, as many people panic or over-react to normal information. It is also quite possible the ride operator was either kidding or did not have the information he was apparently sharing.
Dvo
Didn't CF institute a mandatory ride closure policy on their coasters chainwide in the event of rain following the low speed collision on magnum a couple years ago? When I was at KD last weekend (before the monsoon hit) they shut down rebel yell north(running only one train all day) due to a very light rain. I think they lightened up on that some. Last year on opening weekend up at Cedar Point there was a steady rain on the Sunday morning, and they were running MF. Was it painful? Yes. Was it still totally worth riding? 100%
Colonel_SoB_fan
So Diamondback did not open untill after 11:30 today and I saw mechanics back in the woods around the 5th hill and helix looking at the footings or footers. Maybe there is something to the original post

deb
We got in for an ERT on Sunday at around 9:20 (when we stacked the line), an op told us that it was down, indefinitely. While we were in the truck, waiting to walk up, we could see the test runs, and the train got stopped at the top of the lift hill. When the op told us about the technical issue, there also was a train stopped at the top of the lift hill. They decided to let us into the queue, and we got to see the train go over the hill. The next train was loaded, no problems. We were on the third train of the day. It was all much faster than I expected, and we got to ride DB and The Beast all before the park was officially open. deb
TylerRider
So much for the characterization of this being a "major problem." Diamondback was open again later in the evening, it was a lot of fun in the evening! However, the ride ops and other ride workers were really annoying as they kept coming to me and others in the line saying that it was going to be a major delay and to go find another ride....more details in my trip report. I have seen Dimondback stalled 2 different times in two weeks onw was were the spiral staircase was, and that lasted for at least an hour and once at the top of the lift hill
Dvo
^um. okay? I'm lost. Please check your spelling and make sure your posts make sense. As for the maintenance issues (I think that's what you're pointing out...), every coaster is liable to break down. Even something as reliable as Diamondback. I know, I was just giving out some information. I am not saying that anything is wrong with the ride.
josh4958
Just a FYI to all, I was at KI on 09-19-09 and they had to shut down DB for about 15 min. they pulled a train off and replaced a wheel. later they put the third train back on. The crazzzzzzzy part was the woman in front of me (with her to son and a friend) it was her husband who was the tech checking DB. She sent him a tex and asked how long of a wait...He sent back "just 15 min, so wait".
