dining in the park

The food at Busytown Grill is pretty good for the kids, but it is a fast food counter. There are seats right around the side of the building though. Potato Works is also good, but those fries probably aren't what your looking for. If your lucky you might see Magilla Gorillas Grill open which has a good reputation for kids food, but is a fast food counter, but their are tables with covers right next to it. Wings is more of an adult resteraunt.

There really aren't any good "sit down" dinning areas in the park for kids. Wings and Festahus are as close as you are going to get. Subway is now in the park, next to Racer in Coney Mall. You can sit out on the patio and eat. It is supposed to rain this weekend, though... so Wings or Festahus might be best.

We are going with a 3 year old and a 7 year old.  I know we will need more than fast food counter ordering for a break.  Does anyone have advice about where to have a sit down meal that is fun or maybe has characters for the kids?  Thanks for any input.

Sorry, but PKI does not have any restaurants in which characters visit the tables like Disney does. However, rumor has it that this may change in the coming years.

Personally, I recommend Festhaus. It is one of only 2 restaurants in the park with indoor bathrooms and it has a wide variety of food. You can get chicken tenders, burgers, pizza, and more. And it has movie screens, video games, and skill cranes for entertainment.

If you want more information about PKI's dining, I recommend purchasing a book that I recently acquired:

The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island

Orange Frazer Press

This book is sold AT THE PARK in all retail shops and book stores throughout the tri-state (OH, KY, & IN). It has an entire chapter on dining and its full of information..........including advice to parents with small children.

If you can't wait until you visit the park to purchase the book (though I did), log on to

http://www.orangefrazer.com

Again, I personally recommend Festhaus.............and I'm a chef!

Cheers,

Hey, I am one who always wants PKI to be more Disney-like because Disney is the industry leader. I hope that there will be Nickelodeon Cafe with character meals. I am guessing that the Nickelodeon breakfasts coming up (the first on 5/3) might be an experiement.

Not to get off topic but last year I read 2 articles about PKI in The Mason Community Press. In the first, the author compared PKI to Disney - and he pointed about that Phantom Theater was very similar to the Haunted Mansion. And in another article, the same author compared PKI to Universal Studios. The premise of both articles is that PKI offers many things that Disney and Universal Studios do. Hence, I hope that PKI will become more and more like the industry leaders. TR:TR was a step in the right direction - as was SDATHC. Though in all honesty, I'd gladly give up Scooby to get PT back.

Dino,

Idealistically, I wish that we could have both SCATHC and PT.

yeah Rumors about new Nick cafes w/ characters....PKI does need a place where kids and there familes can eat and see there fav nick characters

Hey, I would eat there. Festhaus is so boring and abandoned. I remember when I went there when I was younger, there would be mass people there and they would actually play movies to were you could hear and enjoy them. Now it is kinda lame, you get your food, sit down, eat in this abandoned place and leave. Not a vary friendly atmostphere.
