I just want to know, because I'm a fan of all of those games (not as much ITG, I've never played the arcade version)

Yes, DDR and Guitar Hero are both in the arcade in Coney Mall. Although the Guitar Hero machine is horribly out of sync so I wouldn't suggest playing it.

I have videos of a bunch of KIC'ers playing around in there Lol.

There's DDR SuperNova machines in the Coney Mall and Rivertown arcades.

I wish KI had some classic arcade and pinball games like CP does. CP's arcade is very well known for their classic games and draws people in just to play those retro games. I always check at the KI arcades to see if they happened to add a donkey kong, galaga, etc...nothing yet, but my fingers are crossed!

Personally if I had wanted to play video games I would've saved myself the cost of gas and stayed home, but that's just me.

I would like to play some games but not too many. Maybe 15 minutes worth. I like the basketball game since they are easy to win at and the good old ski ball.

Then there are those who go to parks when they can't ride any major rides, yet still have a great time...not depositing a nickel in an arcade game (yes, he knows they take quarters...multiple ones in many cases). A park is so much more than just rides. In days of old, many went to parks just to play SkeeBall or Fascination. Cedar Point seems to remember that. Sort of.

I would love to have Donkey Kong in the park heck why not throw in some pong or pac man or Tekken and Mario. I would pay to play a game or two or Donkey Kong.

And some really nice pinball machines...from days when pinball was fun!

I know what you're talking about, I just prefer to ride the rides when I go to parks. And honestly if you know where to look you can find pretty much any game you can think of.

He is right...but one location may have one game and another place another game. It would be cool to have a whole retro type arcade with many games so you don't have to drive to other ends of they city to find the certain game you want.

You must look at it from Cedar Fair's perspective though. Would the addition of these games bring in enough profit (If any at all) to make the endeavor worthwhile? Most people (Excluding some of the hardcore enthusiasts here) only get a few visits to Kings Island a year, and would much rather spend their time riding on the rides rather than playing in the arcades.

The arcades make money. If they didn't, they wouldn't be there. Everything in a modern day park either directly makes money or attracts guests and keeps them happy, so that they can spend money...from parking to getting in to eating to buying stuff...

I agree, there is very little market for these types of games. CP has many classic games in their main arcade (in the back) but they do not own them...I can't remember who does. The company owns and maintains the games and I'm sure pays CP for the electricity and space. Some of the arcades at KI have a lot of room and maybe a deal like this would work well for them.

yeah, if they would have thought it would benefit them or whatever, they probably would have done it already by now. And the people/company that owns and maintains all the classic machines at CP is located in Sandusky and I don't know of a place/company in Cinci. that does that. Sure there is one though.

Whew, I'm glad it wasn't just me then. I thought I would have been much better at "Barracuda" than I turned out to be on that machine!

I've found myself spending 20-40 nickels in the arcade everytime I go with GatorGirl. Every time we get off Monster, she's drawn over to the arcade by the allure of playing skeeball. As long as skeeball remains a quarter a game, I don't mind.

I love skeeball. I don't even care if I get any tickets, I just enjoy playing it.

Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed that the price of DDR has gone down. For years and years it was $1.00 per person, per play. It is now $0.75 per person, per play. That puts it on par with out-of-park arcades, which usually charge either $0.50 or $0.75. I will probably play it more often now that I've noticed this. Plus they reset the game every year, so most of the good songs are not unlocked. The more it's played, the more gets unlocked, and I miss being able to play Sakura at an arcade!

I'm a huge pinball lover. I remember when Cedar Point had an arcade (not the main one) with lots of vintage pinball machines. And though they still have some at the main arcade, there aren't nearly as many as there used to be there.

I'm also happy with a good air hockey table.
