wildcat82
Well, the wife and I just returned from our Ohio Coaster Trip and I felt that I should post my thoughts on KI here. We visited CP the three days before going to KI and overall, as a park, I liked KI more. Don't give me wrong, CP kicks KI's butt as far as number of rides and the experience on those rides, but KI was cleaner, looked more up-to-date and seemed to be operated a bit better. That seems to go against the grain of what others on here think, but I was very impressed by KI and wish I could have had another day at the park. 5/29. We arrived late in the evening at about 5 pm. The park was busy, but the only ride that we waited over 45 min for was Firehawk. For my first flyer, I loved it. I can't wait to ride a few more. FoF was fun. It surprised my wife quite a bit, as I told her nothing about the ride going in. We rode Racer next and I loved the airtime on this ride, non-stop for the most part. The last ride we rode for the day was The Beast. It blew away all my expectations. I have never been a big woodie fan until this year. My home park, World's of Fun, added Prowler this year, which is a great ride, and opened my eyes to woodies. The Beast was amazing. Had it not been for my last on DB the following day, it would be at the top of my list for KI. My wife and I are never in a hurry at parks so we spent the last hour at KI just walking around looking at what the park had to offer and then watching the fireworks. We also got a ride on Scooby Doo's haunted mansion or whatever it is called. It was alot of fun. We must have taken it pretty seriously because the guy at the photo op said we looked very serious is our picture. 5/30. We arrived early for ERT and rode DB for the first time. Managed 3 ride before 10 am when we went for the rest of the park. 15, 8, and 4. I was surprised by my first two rides and the lack of airtime. However, my ride in row 4 put it to the top of my list. I don't know what it was, but I felt like I was coming out of my seat the whole ride. It was awesome. Recognized 2 people on here from their pictures. We then rode BSC. I really liked this ride. It may be simple, but it was one of my favs at the park. We proceeded to ride Vortex. My thoughts are that if you've rode one Arrow Looper, you've rode them all. After that we hit up the Son of Beast and Drop Tower. SOB was not as rough as I was expecting, We were in row 6. Don't give my wrong, it is not smooth, but outside of the first double helix, it wasn't bad. That was it for the morning, we left the park, went for a drive and went to the movies. Evening, we didn't get much in because after ride Invertigo, which was ok, very similar to Boomerang at World's of Fun, we went and ate dinner then got in line for DB. While in ride, the storms that everyone has talked about decided to show their face. Sucked, we ended up in running from gift shop to gift shop buying stuff we were going to get as we left the park. Needless to say, I was soaked. Bad way to end the trip, but overall, I loved KI. I wish the other Cedar Fair parks would operate and keep things as clean as KI. Plus the area around the park is alot nicer than the hole that Sandusky is. Sorry if you live there, but that town sucks. Overall, great trip we rode every rollar coaster we wanted to. Few photos from our time at KI. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks to this forum for being here. I had alot of good info going in that helped make the trip even better. DaveStroem
Glad you had a great trip. I am quite surprised that you didn't get a lot of air on DP in row 15. I try stick out my gut when pulling back the restraint and when they check them. This way I avoid being stapled in. It is too bad you had to leave during the rain. Sunday was FABULOUS.
