CantStopCabron
I liked the first page (2-4) of the 1974 park "map". Man that is so true to the seventy's style. "SHERWIN-WILLIAMS is the official paint supplier of Kings Island. Consider SHERWIN-WILLIAMS..." I wonder if they still use SHERWIN-WILLIAMS. CantStopCabron
Usually you just need to enter it manually without the http crap. Try typing in "pkiconnect.tripod.com" manually in the bar and it ahould work.
Elder Panther
I liked the 1992 map. It was really realistic. It has the whole layout of Vortex and King Cobra and it even has the tunnels of Adventure Express. The 1987 map has no mention of The Vortex being new that year. Thats surprising seeing as how it was the first ever coaster with 6 inversions, I mean you'd think they'd want to brag about that.

DragonLord
Sorry for this being so long! Okay, I finnaly got in and I must admit, I got a littler teary-eyed. I miss the good old KI of the past, with all of the trees and the many now classic, out-dated characters. There are a few things I miss, like all the trees surounding Racer. I don't remember the floral thermometer, but that probably didn't last long anyway. The big hanging floral basket we still have, but I belive has been moved next to the Carrousel. I remember seeing the floral Liberty Bell, and I think that too is next to the Carrousel. I really miss the clown band, they really should bring that back! Whatever happened with the lights on International Street? I don't think we've had them lit up like that for a while... unless I'm just so used to seeing it that I don't think they have it, I'll pay more attention next time I close the park. I also think they should bring back the Skyride. That would be nice to have again, it would let guests sit back and relax and see the park and the area without being in the tower or on the hill of ride. PKI needs to bring back more landscaping and should have the old feel again, it's getting too modern. Rivertown and Coney really should be about the past and it should be themed that way more. Employees should look the part as well. PKI needs a place for it's own history as well. They could have a scale model of the park, then and now, and have pictures and stuff from a long time ago. They already have news paper clippings of the older rides and stuff up in IR. Bring in what the new innovations are in the park, like the launch for FoF, The Beast and SOB, TR and Delerium. Ride videos could be played as well, like they do for Discovery and Travle channels, and make it something where people can experience the rides if they can't... we have some great projection technology that could be used to that with to make it seem like you are riding the ride. moonbeam
Hey Dragon Lord- I think the lights on the buildings of international street were only supposed to be there for winterfest, but several years after they just didn't want to go throught the trouble of taking them down and putting them back up.. so they just kept them there. Until last year when they started to have electrical problems and were deemed unsafe. At least that's what one of my managers told me. coasterrz
Acutally, the light on International Street didn`t premiere with Winter Fest. They were put on the buildings as part of the Grand opening festivities in 1972. However, park management liked how International Street looked so they decided to keep them. However, 2001 would be the last year they would remain lit, as PKi had trouble finding replacement bulbs. I believe that is what Shaggy said about this topic a while back. He may have more definative answers on this subject. Also, Magilla Gorilla`s Grill and Wings Diner still have lights on the outside of the buildings. Also, Coney Mall`s ride signs used to feature lights around the names. However, for this season The Racer, Scrambler and Monster, and maybe some others, the signs were redone without the lights in them. But, The Vortex, and Dodgems still have lights in their signs. DragonLord
I just think that the lights have a more romantic feel and really added something to the park overall. Maybe one day they will bring them back? It would be nice if they could do a Winterfest as well, as least for a week or two, with ice skating, Santa, the works. Then again, which of the seasonal employees would want to work during their time off? Would anyone actually go to Winterfest if they brought it back? I mean, it would have to compete against the Zoo, the malls...
