06jds377
I decided to cruise up to KI with 3 friends (for even riding, of course) Thursday, seeing as the weather outlook was not too bad and we all had a day off. We arrived at the park at 10, processed our tickets in a hurry, got a locker, and we were off to Racer. Blue Racer was a walk on when we got there, Red was still down. I think we were pretty much the only ones on our train. When we got off Racer it began to rain a little, so we decided we would hit Vortex, which also turned out to be a walk on. During the ride the rain became a little more steady and made for an interesting ride experience. We got off and headed for Beast. Of course, we waited for the front two rows (a <5 minute wait) when we were told that two trains would be taken off the track. We waited patiently 15 minutes or so for them to switch the trains off so we could have our first ride on Beast in the rain. We had a relatively smooth and painless ride, only one of us complaining of "broken ribs and neck" when we exited. None of us had been on Diamondback yet, so we decided to brave the weather and head for DB. We found out they were only running two trains when we got there, and there was what we thought was a good sized line. Apparently not, we waited 10 minutes at most. We got on towards the front (5 & 6) and began to get anxious. We discovered it was still raining when we departed the station and discussed how painful the ride would be on the way up. Even through our discomfort we were all still thoroughly impressed with DB, but the rain hadn't slacked off so we headed for Outer Hanks for some wings and adult beverages. When discussing what to do while its raining someone suggested that we should have a few drinks and hold a friendly competition at Dodgem. We walked on with few other people and began our derby. It was a spectacle to say the least. After the derby (I won), they headed to Drop Tower, I decided to sit this one out. I didn't want to lose my stomach on the fall. They were satisfied with the ride and short wait (one cycle). The weather cleared up so we then headed to Firehawk and waited 30 minutes or so to ride. After that it was BLSC, a very very rough ride on Beast, two DB rides within 25 minutes, Vortex, Blue Racer (Red was running so we talked smack on the lift and then won by a train length), Flight Deck, Delirium, Invertigo, DB two more times, FoF, DB again, and The Beast at night. We left KI a little after 10 and got back at 2. Ride count: Total - 21 Diamondback - 6 The Beast - 3 Racer - 2 Vortex - 2 Invertigo - 1 Flight Deck - 1 FoF - 1 BLSC - 1 Firehawk - 1 Delirium, Drop Tower, and Dodgem. It was a great day at KI and we usually had a 15 minute or less wait for everything. I'll be back next Thursday.
Thrill_Biscuit
Excellent description of how to maximize the fun of Dodge 'Em and Racer! That's what it's all about. Great report!
06jds377
Forgot to mention that I did not see ANY line jumping Thursday, maybe because the crowds were low...
