DaveStroem
This is another of my 3 part, 3 park PTRs. We left the shop shortly after 1:00 PM to get the rental car and after transferring our bags we were on the road by 2:00. After a short stop in Wheeling to drop off the dogs we were heading North to Erie, PA and Waldameer park and Ravine Flyer II. http://www.waldameer.com/ Our plans were to get there at 7:00 pm for their reduced price wristbands ($15 ea) and to stay till the park closed with fireworks. We ended up with 15 coaster rides between their 4 coasters and a ton of flat rides. This was a fun little park with 1 great wooden roller coaster. While I would not drive more then 1 hour to go there, it is a great park for an evening on a trip to somewhere else. Ravine Flyer II is now my favorite woodie (sorry Beast). It packs so much air time that as the night wore on I found myself having to hold on rather then hands up. We got 11 laps in during the 3 1/2 hours that we were in the park including the last train of the night. Rating: 10/10 Steel Dragon is a family coaster that has an extra kick. You sit back to back in a 4 seat car that spins during the ride but this is not a spinning mouse. We got 2 laps on this with the longest waits of the night (about 5 minutes). Rating: 7/10 Comet is a 50s era woodie that doesn't offer much in the way of thrills or air. Rating 4/10 Ravine Flyer III is a kiddie coaster that is only good if your under 5 or a coaster nut looking for a ride credit 1/10. Other flats that we did: Tilt-a-Whirl, Ali Baba, Spider, Wipeout, Whacky Shack, Mega Vortex, Pirates Cove & X scream. So in total, we got 8 flats and 15 coaster rides in 3 1/2 hours and saw a fireworks show to boot. After this we jumped on I-90 to Batavia NY were we stayed Friday & Saturday nights. Pt 2 Darien Lake. cassie_KY
Thank you for your photos. I have been wanting to head that way for some time. We are farther away than the one hour, but I am sure there are other things to do up that way and make it a multi-stop trip. Your fireworks photos are very pretty. Niagara Falls is a little more then an hour away. Part 2 will be Darien Lake and part 3 is Canada's Wonderland which is a CF park. So if you have a Platinum pass and a passport you could hit this great park.

Some of the best food I have ever had has come from Waldameer...and some of the w...uh, that's enough for now.
