Red Shirt Day (Gay Day)

I don't understand why people are so closed minded. If everyone had been like that forever, then there would be nothing but straight white males in charge, and while I am one, that is not something I'd want. Diversity is important.

Exactly! That's the whole point - people are too close-minded and unaccepting of others....

>>>Since I like this site so much and don't want to be banned all i will say is I think PKI should stop Gay Day. <<<

As someone wrote before, this is an instance of PKI renting out the park just as they do to corporations. Anyone with enough money can rent out the park, as was done on June 1st. Also, as for the event in September, if you look at PKI's operating calendar, you will see that PKI is closed all of that month so it isn't like the general public is being shut out of the park because of a park rental.

As for the Red Shirt Day (which sounds like it isn't widely attended anymore). It's Red Shirt Day, not "Let's play tonsil hockey in public day" as I think everyone believes that is inappropiate. I'm also not sure what PKI could do to "stop" that day. Not let anyone in who happens to wear a red shirt?

I have no problem with Gay day at all... i mean i do not really think they should get a special day with the park to themselves... but i don't think anyone should but big BIG companies, ie. P&G. I worked it last year and had no big problems... just the usual.

Gay guys can make out, what's the big deal? Maybe you wouldn't be so disgusted if you didn't stare. I make out with my girlfriend, so what? Don't stare, you shouldn't have a problem.

You are right by saying "If you don't like it, don't look at it", but many children will stare. I guess that my opinion is; that it is improper to have same sex affection in public. I do understand why PKI really can't do anything about it, but the so-called profanity on clothing is an opinion too.

We live in AMERICA, founded by people trying to break out of the confines of their society.

Try not to take this the wrong way, because my mom-in-law IS gay but, for our society/world to evolve we need to reproduce. Those in a same sex relationship cannot reproduce, and that is a plain fact. This entire thread has been people's opinions on the Red-Shirt day.

Calling people names because they don't agree with you is the same thing as to why you called us names to begin with. We have a right, and they have a right. It doesn't mean I want to see it, or especially want my kids to see it.

Gay descrimination now is the exact same thing as racism was back in the fourties, fifties, and sixties. Hopefully no one here is racist. Why should sexual preference matter, same with skin color. This is all relevant. You shouldn't even think of censoring things like this, it's like telling a gay/black person to go eat in the back of the resturant, just because an equal of theirs doesn't like what they do or how they look.

SO MANY MATURE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU ALL.

I'm confused by your post Yogi...I think many people have made fairly decent arguments or stated their opinions...which is great, I think that's the whole point of boards like this - to discuss our opinions...Yes, it's a PKI board, but this topic stemmed from a PKI topic to something that is very front-burner in our society....I totally agree with CantStopCabron, this is exactly like the racism issues of the past (& present)...I hate to use this quote, but Can't We All Just Get Along - Who really cares about someone's skin color, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, or anything like that?? We are all the same - Human!

OK, I'll step down off of my soapbox...

Here's my two cents from an employee point-of-view about the mentioned day in September. The guests in the park that day are actually the cleanest and nicest guests in the park all year. I have no problem working on that day. Besides, if the organization is willing to fork out the cash to rent the place out, PKI will do it. Are we all forgetting PKI is a business? As for the original question.."Red Shirt Day" in June does not draw the amount of "participants" it used to.
