mtl2013
I know these are KI forums, but I am travling up to Cedar Point with my dad and some family friends next tuesday, adn I was just wondering, like what coaster should we go on first, should we bring our own food, should we get there really early??? I have been up there a couple of times, but i was just wondering if anyone had some helpful tips. TIA -mtl2013
Touchdown
What coaster should we go on first? That depends, do you have Platinum Passes? If that answer is yes, then you get an hour of ERT on Maverick, MF, Raptor, Iron Dragon and Planet Snoopy from 9-10 every morning. If you do, do Maverick first, if you dont you should head to the one big ride that is not open during ERT (TTD) first. Should we bring our own food? Food at CP is expensive, and not too particularly amazing (although the Fat Frier Fries are pretty darn amazing) so thats up to you. Should we get there really early??? If you have a Platinum Pass you have that extra hour of ERT to remember about but either way arriving 15 or so minutes before opening is more then enough time to park, slab on the sunscreen and hit the gate. gad198
^ His questions become much more difficult to answer if he's not getting that Early Entry! What should you hit first if you're getting in with the ROTB at 10? I'd still probably recommend going to Maverick first but it's really close between that and MF. I'd definitely avoid TTD and Raptor as those are the rides everyone heads to first (and more importantly, the lines die down anyway after the first few hours). CoasterStreak
Actually, right now they aren't dying down hardly at all. I just got back from going Sun-Tues, and I did the ERT on both days. Monday was Maverick and Tuesday was MF for me. After one ride on each, I went back to check the line and it had already went up to 45 min - 1 hour. And on Tuesday I went to get in line for TTD (to wait til opening at 10) at 9:35 and the line was already backed up clear to the Iron Dragon pond. As a warning, the lines for the bigger coasters are going to be at an hour at minimum all day (even early morning and late night) unless you get lucky somehow. When I was there, the one day Cedar Creek Mine Ride even had a 30 minute wait, and I think that is saying something!
Touchdown
If you get to TTD fast, at 10 you should only have a 30-45 min wait max. Maverick is typically already 1+ hour wait, MF is usually 45-60 min and Raptor, well don't be a sheep and head to the first ride you see. While Raptor can get 2.5 hour waits at the start of the day come 3-5 you can usually find the wait <45 min.
TTD-120-420
Start in the back of the park. If you go through the Soak City gate you can get to TTD much faster. After that hit Magnum for a 2 minute wait. Then go to Maverick, Skyhawk, Mille, etc.. Then go to the front. Happy Friar across from Gemini has the best food at the best price. Touchdown
^Another reason to start with TTD, you should be able to do every ride you want to do between there and Maverick (Gemini, Tilt a Whirl, Witches Wheel, Power Tower, Magnum, Mean Streak, Skyhawk, etc.) before 1pm. Thats when I usually head on over to Soak City, but if I didnt have ERT I would then suck it up and wait in the Maverick line, then take the train to the Main Midway and do all the rides in the front of the park next (Raptor, WT, Chaos, Blue Streak, Troika, Maxair, etc.) and then come back to MF just as its getting dark and get a night ride on that and end the night with a Magnum marathon
DaveStroem
First off, get there early. If you are Platinum pass holders or staying at one of the Cedar Point owned resorts you can get in at 9:00. This means be there at 8:30 so your at the front of the line. Park at the Soak City lot as this is closer to back of the park and since most park in front, they tend to hit the front rides first. Rides with long lines Maverick TTD Raptor Millenium Force When we go and get there on time *cough cough* we go straight to Maverick then hit Millie and head over to TTD for it's opening at 10:00. From here we hit Maggie then Gemini and Mean Streak. Take the train to middle of the park and then go to Raptor and Blue Streak. Next is off to WT & DT. By this time we will start to add some flats in the mix. But we never do them early, that time is for COASTERS.
Touchdown
With the PP ERT, the longest wait I ever wait the entire day is usually 45 min, and that is for my night ride on MF (a must.) My typical day is this: -Maverick -MF -TTD -Power Tower -Magnum -Magnum -Time to stall for Gemini to start racing (usually sometime between 11:30-12,) Witches Wheel -Tilt-a-Whirl -Gemini -Skyhawk -Go to Car eat lunch -Go to Soak City, chill -Reenter at Resort Gate -Chaos -Maxair -Troika -Maxair -Raptor -If the line is <30 min, Raptor again -Blue Streak -Calypso -MF night ride -Walk through Starlight -Magnum Marathon (3-5 rides) Thats the basics, must do in a normal day list for me, I do vary it up with additonal rides I dont normally do, see a show (Highly suggest Got Country! and Signed Sealed Delievered) and re rides on the rides I listed as well (slow days usually mean additional afternoon rides on Maverick and MF.) ajbt1981
Let's just keep it simple here: Arrive at the park whenever, ask for Challenge parking at the gate (Which will direct you to park near Soak City and enter the park there, near the Magnum), and do a nice counter clockwise trip around the park starting at the Magnum and ending at TTD. DaveStroem
Touchdown, that sounds pretty much like how we do it. When we were there Monday this was not possible the place was so freakin packed with people. Mean Streak had a line that went to the entrance. KI Kevin
While Raptor can get 2.5 hour waits at the start of the day come 3-5 you can usually find the wait <45 min. Ha! I went on a saturday and waited a 45 minute wait at 1, and walked on twice at about 9:45.
Touchdown
As much as I love Raptor there is only one coaster in that park Im walking on (again, and again) at 9:45, its big, its red, and its more then just a hill.
Tom76257
While I absolutely LOVE such rides as Maverick (My current favorite steel coaster.), Raptor, and Wicked Twister, there are some classic rides that should definitely NOT be missed. WildCat is a fun little Schwazkopf coaster that, in my opinion, should not be missed. Blue Streak has already been mentioned and will also have short lines when compared to other rides. If you want a nice view of the park and just want to relax then take a ride on Giant Wheel. Two rides that I'd recommend riding only because they are currently for sale are Demon Drop and Chaos. Last, but not least, take a ride on Cedar Downs. It's one of only a few racing carousels left in the world. Hope this helps!
mtl2013
ok thanks to all you guys. We ended up going to gemini first, then maveric, millenium twice, TTD twice (front seat), raptor, wicked twister, and i think a couple others. We actaully didnt end up bringing food. WE just went with the overpriced chick filet
raptor
The best place to eat is East of Chicago Pizza on the Cedar Point Causeway, if you don't mind leaving for an hour. As far as rides go I'd start with Maverick (100 foot hill), then go to Magnum (200 foot hill), then go to MF (300 foot hill) then TTD as the climax (over 400 foot hill), gradual buildup!
