Invertigo woes?

Featured Replies

On my last two visits to the park, Invertigo seems to have been having some issues. Two visits ago, the train came to a stop before it was back in the station for unloading, and the people were stuck on it for what seemed like forever (45 mins to an hour perhaps? I didn't time it, but it was a long time as I was next in line, after having waited in a relatively long line).

Then on the last visit, my restraint loosened up one-click during the lift hill. I thought it was just my imagination, but I heard someone else mention the same thing while exiting the park. Hearing someone else mention their restraint loosened up kind of alarmed me, as I then knew it wasn't just my imagination. I'm one who, by nature, has some amount of distrust in restraint mechanisms, especially those that do not have a safety belt. And this is exactly why. Of course this one has a safety belt, so I didn't feel in that much danger, but still, I don't think it should've loosened up any...

Anyone notice anything abnormal going on with Invertigo? Just curious as this is becoming a favorite for my son, and if it's being plagued by gremlins, I'd like to know about it.

Meh, I haven't ridden it in a long time. I'm not a fan of the ride anyway.

I've only ridden it 3? times this season, and haven't had any problems. But on one of my visits I did happen to be walking by and captured this quick video of it being weird. Nothing major, but worth posting?

Deja Vu, three Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerangs of the same name, opened at three Six Flags Parks. They opened in 2001 and today only one of them is still open. Apparently, these coasters were so unreliable that Six Flags halted buying Vekoma Coasters completely, the year after these coasters were opened.

King's Island's "Invertigo" model is more reliable than any Giant Inverted Boomerang, but is still known to stall every so often, and sometimes get stuck on the lift.

I operated it for 2 years and I have ridden it for 10 and I have never had any restraint problems, with the Go No Go racket system you can sometimes feel some play between clicks.

Actually there are three still running. Deja Vu, Aftershock, and Stuntfall. Just one Deja Vu was really removed, SFGAms was relocated to Silverwood and is now Aftershock. I don't know what happened to SFOG's (I got to ride it!), I don't think it was scrapped, I'm guessing it's in storage?

The restraints always knock my head and neck and give me a headache, though I like it, I usually avoid it. I would love to see a full size suspended coaster like Raptor come to KI

I dont ride it that much since I really dont like the ride and the line moves so slow but on the few times I did ride it never had any problems.

I like Invertigo, but the line is always too long. I've never had any problems besides the occasional earbash.

That looks exactly like what it did when I saw it get stuck that time.

My old babysitter told me a story about her friend's restraint coming all the way up the whole ride, plus my friend told me it happened to her

I doubt it, if such a restraint issue arose, the park would most likely find it during testing or from a guest who complained.

Where in the park was it located?

I know quite a few people that have tried to convince me different things (TR:TR broke and they were hanging for their life, Drop Zone cut this kid's head off sitting next to them, etc., etc.) People make things up like that all the time.

Well I'm not making up my story. My restraint did indeed open up "one click" after starting up the lift hill. I am paranoid about restraints opening mid-ride, so I habitually push forcefully against the restraint numerous times after it's been checked by the ride op, to convince myself that it's secure. But this last time, once the train started going up the lift hill, the restraint suddenly gave me a couple extra inches of clearance, after it had passed my own personal push-test. I was facing downhill, so my weight was against the restraint when it loosened up, and that's what got my attention. However I dismissed it afterwards as just an anomaly, or maybe even my paranoid imagination. But then when leaving the park that day, I overheard someone else say, quote, "my restraint started to come open on Invertigo when I rode it!". That tells me it wasn't just my imagination.

I don't doubt that a restraint would loosen one click. I do doubt a restraint opening all the way.
