Diamondback FOF
I was reading on Wikipedia about The Beast and it said it opened on Friday, April 13, 1979. I just thought that was kinda strange. I know this is random, but I thought I should share. Maybe Friday the 13th isn't totally bad luck, as The Beast seems to have done well. OR, maybe the date that it opened is the reason it is haunted (if you believe that)? *I can't guarentee that is accurate as it is from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beast_(roller_coaster)
Beast1979
I believe that date was the Media Preview, and April 14th, Saturday, was Opening day.
Diamondback FOF
Oh. But the first none-park associated riders were on the 13th, which I still find interesting.
Beast79
And for thirty years it still terrorizes the back woods that it lives in!
TheSonofBeast
Part 1 Part 2 From part 1 of this very reliable source... On Friday April 13, 1979 the world’s longest, tallest, fastest wooden roller coaster opened, in spite of a downpour.
Dbfan
Probably on purpose. Looks good, we need another ride in The Beast saga.
Beast1979
After the fail that was Son of Beast, I question that move....
Diamondback96
Maybe that's why KI made SOB its 13th coaster?
Whales_Rock
^ Really?! Gosh that's interesting... and quite a coincidence! XD
Diamondback FOF
Maybe SOB didn't turn out weel because the spirit of The Beast didn't want another coaster in the series. Maybe they should just rename SOB and that will fix its problems?

The Interpreter
The name Fairly Odd Coaster is no longer available for old Sonny... but "Fairly Off Coaster" is available... Oh, I suspect Viacom would think that is a bit too close....maybe 10 years from now, not...but right now it is just too close to the nick of time. Beast79
Any name fairly close to a viacom name would send them jumpin!
The Interpreter
Which is why the Lucy's Crabbie Cabbie at Carowinds has me wondering.... http://www.carowinds.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=300 Seems mighty close to Spongebob's Krabby Patties... Diamondback FOF
^^Yeah, it is kind of close, but yet not at the same time. The only similar part is Krabby/Crabbie, and then the rest just rhymes.

KIfan73
Wow, in 2010 no one will know the names of any of the rides in the park!
The Interpreter
Note those are Carowinds names....the ones at KI may or may not be similar/the same. See, for instance, Firehawk vs. Nighthawk. Flight Deck vs. Afterburn...
Diamondback FOF
^^Why would you say that? Only the kid's rides are changing names...I think....I hope...
The Interpreter
Perhaps because many guests are still using names like Face/Off, Top Gun, Drop Zone, Italian Job: Stunt Coaster, Tomb Raider: The Ride, etc. Not to mention by what moniker, if any, Son of Beast may be known... KIBOB
http://www.carowinds.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=293 It still says Paramount's Kings Island. Yes, but back then it was Paramount's Kings Island though i too am a bit surprised they put the penny pinchers in that description. Usually, CF seems to dislike talking about the certain era between 93 and 06.
