I'm back from my week at PKI and just wanted to thank everyone again for all the advice. Things worked out great. We got to the resort at about 4:30 so I bought tickets through the resort and got in free after 5 Sunday night. There were no lines so we rode all the coasters that evening. Monday I took my tickets and after we got in the park turned them in for season passes and upgraded to the gold. So I saved $30 and have season passes for next year as well with all the gold card benifits!(which we loved!) A way better deal than what I was planning to do! Thank you all so much!!! Also the free water thing was the best! We did buy the refillible Scooby cup but just had it refilled with water all week. It was easier to carry around than the paper cups and with 3-4 of us we went through a lot of water!

My little guy loved all the rides and was not afraid at all. He was bummed he couldn't ride some of the stuff his brother got to but he rode Vortex, The Beast and SOB several times! He also absolutely loved the drop zone!!! The SOB was Down Mon., Tue, Wed., and half of Thurs.! We were so glad we got to ride it Sun. Because we were afriad we wouldn't get to ride it again but it opened Thurs. afternoon and we rode it a couple times more. biggrin.gif One emplyee told us she thought it had been hit by lightning and they couldn't get power to it. Over all at least one of us rode everyride in the park with the exception of some of the kiddy rides and congo falls. That was never open when we were in Action Zone. We saw the slime show and the magic show and enjoyed them both. The kids didn't really enjoy the water park and only wanted to go one day. The water park at the small amusement park near us is much better and I think they were kinda dissapointed with this one. Aslo at the park we usually go to you can ride the lazey river as long as you like and play on the pirat ship as long as you like and that kinda bugged the boys. The stuff is kinda two spred out at the PKI water park too. You have to walk forever from one ride to the next. At the place we usually go to the enterences to the water rides are kinda close to the same spot with the lounge chairs in the middle for the parents to sit on and wait if they like. There are two areas like that, one with big slides and one by the kiddy area. It also has two wave pools and the waves are bigger in them. The one thing I really likes about PKI's water park is the convayer for the raft you use on the family waterslide. At our park you have to roll or carry that big family raft up a bunch of stairs! What a pain!

We didn't go to the park on Fri. at the advice of many of you due to it being bring a friend day. We went to an air force museum in dayton and everyone really enjoyed it. We did drive past PKI at about 6 pm and there were so many people that cars were parked on the grass at the end of the parking lots by the road! I was so glad we didn't even attempt it that day. Thank you for that tip! We left the resort Sat. morning and went to a flea mrkt. just north of PKI on 63 I think it was for a while and then headed home. Got in last night and was so happy to be home and the dog was happy we were home too.

So thanks again - you had great tips and saved me a bundle to boot! Hopefully I will be back again next year now that we have 2004 season passes! ( I still can't believe how well that worked out for us!) - Missmolly

I'm glad you guys had a great time... it doesn't sound like you had any problems. I'm also glad you got to enjoy some things around the area, like Wright Patterson AFB. Hopefully your return trips will be the same. Make sure you look into the different Gold Pass perks for next year. I'm not sure if they are passing out information about them or mailing them at a later date, but odds are they will still have a Bring a Friend Free Day next year as well (probably 3 or 4 of them like this year) so try to avoid them like you did this year!

BTW, did you mind the metal dectors? Hopefully you got through them without any problems!

Nope no problems with the metal dectors. I took the camera out of my bag so it never beeped and they never searched my bag. The lines there were not too bad either. The only thing I found strange was that you had to have your hand stamped to return even though you have a season pass. I was told it had something to do with them not wanting you to go for part of the day and then give your pass to someone else to get in but I thought that was the point of the photo ID. It was kinda a hassle to wait in line to get out and back in again because everyone has to go through the same line. dry.gif Oh well we had a great time anyway. Hopefully we can make it back next year.

BTW - I forgot to mention how much the boys and I loved The Racer! We only did it forward once but we did it backwards a bunch of times! I think that may have been a Fav. for me! No lines, not to ruff and so much fun! I am actually black and blue from The Beast! But it was fun anyway. biggrin.gif Rode that several times too. We rode all the costers several times. I do love costers.

Backwords Racer is my favorite in the park, next to The Beast. It has lots of air time and is a pretty unique ride.

The passes are only allowed to be used once a day even with the photos on them. They are right in saying it's so that they aren't passed off, and so that we know they aren't stolen or "borrowed" from family members or others. If the pass is used once a day, we have time to flag passes that aren't supposed to be used for whatever reason and so on. It's a great way to catch stolen or "borrowed" passes. Honestly, some of the admissions people don't really pay attention to the pictures although they can never stress it enough. Letting the passes in only once helps to catch human error (or stupidity).

Handstamps are nice, but they need to have two or more people doing it at once when it gets busy. When I notice a long line for a handstamp, I try and get a stamp to help out or admissions sends someone out after I tell them about the line. Of course, coming in they need to have more than one light to check them...

One of these days I hope they go to a biometric pass where you have to scan your thumb print and your picture comes up on the screen and we let you in that way. It would save a ton of time and keep down on some problems.
