KIfan1980
I just took advantage of some cheap flights and will be in the Tampa area in late Feb (visiting family - taking one of the kids). This provides me with an opportunity to visit a new park and ride some coasters in what would otherwise be the offseason. It also will enable me to pull my 50th coaster credit forward (was going to happen at a spring break Dollywood trip). I searched for TR's here on KIC, and found a few old ones (WooferBearATL in 2005ish) and several teasers from Ryan's recent trip indicating a final day at BGT (couldn't find an actual TR), but am looking for more info. So if you have an recomendations/advice on anything from what to ride when, things not to miss, food, admission discounts, what coaster to make my 50th credit - please let me know. I'm also debating whether to take my son and family to the park (almost 4 year old and non riding grandparents) or leave them to do something else that day, so would appreciate input on the kid appeal factor as well. Diamondback FOF
Just from readin about the park, I think a four year old and the grandparents would enjoy the things they have that involve all of the animals. Other than that, I can't help you.
The Interpreter
And these threads will help a LOT: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19184&st=0&p=325220&hl=tampa&fromsearch=1entry325220 http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17005&view=findpost&p=284522&hl=tampa&fromsearch=1 http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16869&view=findpost&p=282066&hl=tampa&fromsearch=1 http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16599&view=findpost&p=277066&hl=tampa&fromsearch=1 http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13966&view=findpost&p=227152&hl=tampa&fromsearch=1 http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9878&view=findpost&p=162414&hl=tampa&fromsearch=1 http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9249&view=findpost&p=151818 Remember, until very recently, this park was called Busch Gardens Africa...(and once upon a time, Busch Gardens: The Dark Continent)
TheCryptRaider
I've been when I was little (7ish?), and I was too short for almost all the rides. I absolutely hated it (Loved the animals though).. (But that was because I was a thrill-seeker then) Although now they have the Jungala kid area, and a new Sesame Street kid area, alond with the animals. I'm sure it'd be just fine. I would go if I were you.. You might not have a change to go back, and SheiKra, Kumba, and Montu are all totally awesome rides.

The Interpreter
Nah, it's just part of what I do. I am very good at finding stuff. It's how I keep my job. For now, at least!
Delirium_Guy
Your son and non riding grandparents will very much enjoy their visit to Busch Gardens. There are plenty of things for them to do. Jungala is absolutely a fantastic area for the entire family with many up close animal interaction opportunities.....there is also a great little water play area for kids that would be perfect for your son. In addition to Jungala, they'd definitely enjoy Rhino Rally which is the safari attraction. The train and sky ride also provide great views of the animals. Myombe Reserve is a nice area in the park also which is home to gorillas and chimps. Land of the Dragons is the kids ride area, it is still in operation though certain parts are blocked due to construction of Sesame Street Safari of Fun. Safari of Fun will not be complete by your visit in February, just an FYI. On a sad note, in case you have visited any of the Busch or SeaWorld parks before, the famous Clydesdale horses will be gone by the time of your visit. Their last day for guest viewing at SeaWorld Orlando is tomorrow and by January 4th they will also have been removed from Tampa as well. - Todd
Cory Butcher
Where will the Clydesdale horses be moving to?
BoddaH1994
From what I understand, the Clydesdale horses were not part of the agreement for Blackstone to purchase the parks and will be moved to a farm on AB's property in Missouri. KI Kevin
I've never been there, but judging by how epic Williamsburg was, I'm sure you'll have a great time. As for rides, I can only tell you that you HAVE to ride SheiKra, because I loved Griffon. Montu also looks awesome, and so does Kumba. The theming in Virginia is abundant, so it will be great. Coasterfun
I just returned from the park a couple hours ago. Loved this park! I think it's a great park for all ages. Roller coasters are not the best part, it's everything: food, shows, animal exhibits . . . I'm typing this on a droid, so no trip report just yet. I definetly recommend this park. Every former Busch park has been wonderful.
