August 19, 200322 yr ok, first thing i guess i hafta ask is, do all paramount parks have the Ifle tower and fountain, i know some do but i havn't made it to all of them yet, also what park was first owned by paramount and who had the tower and fountain first or did they come at the same time.
August 19, 200322 yr Well I know Kings Dominion has the tower, not sure about the others. Also it is a rule on this forum to use correct grammar, please do so.
August 19, 200322 yr Author Im sorry Tanner I'm not one of the brightest crayons in the box, I'm a football player. Dominion was also the park I was at and some of the info. that the elevator guy was givin didn't jive up. got me confused. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by nightrider19
August 19, 200322 yr I'm pretty sure both parks were started by the same people. King's entertainment and Taft Broadcasting, I think.
August 19, 200322 yr Correct, the other three Paramount Parks (Great America, Carowinds, and Canada's Wonderland) where purchased by the park chain. So, that is why Kings Dominion and Kings Island look similar with the fountain and eifel tower (though each fountain is different). Now, the entrance area to Great America (though I've never been there) and the mainly the layout of the park (the shape of the paths) is the same as Six Flags Great America. That is because they were both owned by Marriot at one point in time, then sold out. Selling one park to Kings Entertainment (later to become Paramount Parks) and the other park to Six Flags.
August 19, 200322 yr that makes total sense. Also Carowind's entrance was extremely crappy compared to PKI and PKD. Had no fountains or anything just the sign saying, you are in NC and you are in SC, that was the only cool thing about it.
August 19, 200322 yr From what I've heard Carowinds is supposedly "pushing out" their entrances. I guess that means extending them into the parking lot a bit freeing up some land inside the gates, maybe that will allow them to build a fountain or improve upon the grandness of the entrance.
August 20, 200322 yr Only Kings Island and Kings Dominion have the scaled down Eiffel Tower replica. Cris hmmm.... I know that every park needs some sort of signature gigantic structure, but why the Eiffel Tower? Does anyone know why they chose it? Was there a contest or what?
August 20, 200322 yr Because both parks have an International Street and that is an International Symbol. It also is a very good observation tower.
August 20, 200322 yr Because both parks have an International Street and that is an International Symbol. It also is a very good observation tower. Oh, I'm not doubting that it's a great observation tower. I mean, don't get me wrong. The structure is beautiful and very memorable, but do you know why they chose the Eiffel Tower specifically? I mean, they could have had a gigantic Big Ben and it would have had the same effect.
August 20, 200322 yr What is more commonly known in the world (well in the under-educated USA in the form of history and geography), the Eifel Tower, or Big Ben? What is easier to make a replica of... A Tower made of a steel latice that is simply dropped into place and bolted together... or a Clock tower that must have the frame work built (mostly the same as the eifel tower) then add a facade (either stone, wood, cement) then add a huge clock at the top? Plus... is Big Ben an observation tower? No. Is the real Eifel Tower an observation tower? yes.
