January 14, 201016 yr Earlier today, I came across this document, which lists theme park attendances for 2008. The attendances are categorized by: Worldwide figures, with: -Top 25 Amusement/Theme Parks -Top 10 Theme Park Chains -Top 20 Waterparks -Worldwide Theme Park Attendance Trends Region figures, with: -North America: Top 20 Amusement/Theme Parks -Europe: Top 20 Amusement/Theme Parks -Asia/Pacific Rim: Top 10 Amusement/Theme Parks -Mexico/Latin America: Top 10 Amusement/Theme Parks -U.S. Top 15 Waterparks On page 6 of the document (page 7 in the pdf file), it lists North America's top 20 Amusement/Theme Parks. It shouldn't be a surprise that Disney and Universal parks hold the top ten spots, minus Sea World Orlando, which comes in at 7th. The report also includes Cedar Fair parks, but I thought I had read Cedar Fair has consistenly not released attendance numbers for their parks? But, Knott's Berry Farm (13th in North America; 25th most attended in the world), Canada's Wonderland (14th), and Cedar Point (15th) are the top four CF parks, with Kings Island (16th overall in North America) being the fourth most attended CF park. Is Canada's Wonderland the only major park in the region, because it just doesn't hit me as being more popular than CP, Knott's, or KI? Also, no other Cedar Fair parks are in the top 20. Anyways, I thought I would just share this in case anyone was interested. *I cannot guarentee the accuracy of the attendence figures listed. Also, I couldn't find one for 2009, I guess because that year has just ended.
January 14, 201016 yr The figures are estimates...they are not official. See also: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18043&view=findpost&p=303754
January 14, 201016 yr Author Oh. I hadn't remembered seeing that thread before. How would estimates like that even be made? I wouldn't know where to begin on guessing attendance.
January 14, 201016 yr Leaks from insiders, generally. Some are pretty accurate...others are waaaay out of line. Oftentimes, insiders have agendas...to overstate, to understate...and some who claim to know actually know nothing at all...
